Accustomed to the fast pace of life, some embroiderers find it difficult to do needlework, which requires a lot of time both to complete the work and to acquire the necessary skills. For such people, ribbon embroidery is perfect. King Louis XV of France, according to some sources, had such an unusual hobby.

It is necessary

  • - Fabric (canvas, silk, velvet, denim);
  • - ribbons of the required colors;
  • - embroidery hoop;
  • - needles;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

Draw the desired pattern on the material with a pencil or carbon paper.

Step 2

The fabric should be carefully pulled over the hoop by placing it on the smaller ring and pressing with the larger ring. So that there are no folds on the fabric, and it does not deform or sag.

Step 3

Attach the tape to the fabric, starting the embroidery in several ways. The choice depends on whether you just need to fix or at the same time decorate the ribbon. Option I. Putting the ribbon into the needle, bring it to the front side, gently straighten and fix with pins, typing on the needle several threads from the bottom of the ribbon and from the top. After that, the tape is taken out to the seamy side of the embroidery. Using another needle with a thread matching the color, fix the tape with any decorative stitch. Option II. Fold the ribbon on the wrong side of the embroidery. A puncture is made in the center of the fold, the needle is brought out to the front side of the work.

Step 4

Basic stitches, "Loop". The needle is brought out to the front side. A small indent is made, return to the seamy side, but the tape does not extend completely, but a loop of the required size is left. After that, the next loop is also made. If you arrange them in a circle, you get a beautiful flower.

Step 5

Perhaps the most beautiful stitch is “Rose”. Embroider the five-pointed star as you would embroider a snowflake, with the stitches coming out of the center. Fasten the tape on the wrong side by tying a knot. Bring the needle to the right side. Stretch the ribbon under the first ray of the star, and then position the ribbon over the next thread of the base pattern. And so, repeat the steps until the very end of the formation of a rose of the desired size. The tape does not need to be tightened too much for the flower to turn out to be voluminous. After that, the tape is taken out to the wrong side of the embroidery and fixed.

Step 6

Fasten the ribbon after the end of the embroidery by making a small loop on the wrong side and pulling the ribbon through and under a few stitches.
