Whatever you say, women love to dress up. Someone knows how to do it better, someone worse. But the desire to look one hundred percent is inherent in every woman, regardless of her age, figure and nationality. Now clothing stores offer us a huge selection, but there are situations when the necessary thing is simply impossible to find. And in general, sometimes it is much cheaper to sew this or that thing on your own. But what to do if a person does not know how to sew at all? You can learn how to start sewing in this article.
Instructions
Step 1
Buy some sewing books and magazines, and check out some related internet resources. From the books you will learn about the basic techniques and rules of sewing: how to select fabrics, how to overlay a stitch, how to sew parts correctly, how to make patterns, etc. In magazines, you can find many interesting styles with patterns attached to them. Despite the fact that these magazine patterns are often accused of inaccuracy and the fact that such things do not fit well, they are perfect for training. And the thing can always be adjusted a little.
Step 2
Learn to choose the right material for future work. Go to a fabric store, see what fabrics are, how they are correctly called, what textures they have. Consider which fabrics are best for a dress and which ones for a skirt, which fabrics are best for lining, and which ones you can sew a children's suit from.
Step 3
Then master all the basic seams. Remember that even if you have a good sewing machine, you will often need hand sewing skills as well. So practice different types of stitches on patches of fabric.
Step 4
Start with simple products. Try sewing a pillowcase, for example. Leave dresses of complex design for later.
Step 5
Learn to work neatly. In such a matter as sewing, there are no insignificant moments. Everything is important here: to be able to make allowances for seams, to be able to iron a stitch so that the product looks neat and beautiful, to be able to make a groove and much more. If nature has not endowed you with the utmost accuracy, then this trait in yourself will have to be trained - without it in sewing in any way.
Well, and the main thing that you will need when learning to sew is, of course, a great desire to learn and create beautiful things with your own hands.
Good luck to you!
