It is necessary

Polyethylene, threads, elastic band, scissors, sewing machine

Instructions

Step 1

You don't have to buy an expensive shower cap. If you have a sewing machine, you can quickly and easily sew it yourself. In order for the cap to be waterproof, take polyethylene. Cut a 50 cm circle out of the fabric. Fold the edge of the circle an inch or two and sew with a needle. Then sew along the bent seam on a typewriter. This may cause folds as you are sewing the circle. Just ignore them. Now insert the elastic into the hat, and it will take shape. Pre-measure the size of the elastic band on your head. If you want, you can decorate the hat with stickers, appliqués, and so on.

Step 2

There is a more complex way to create a hat with your own hands. Take any waterproof cloth. It is desirable that the base is fabric, and polyethylene can be on top. Cut 2 identical rectangles out of the fabric. They should be 23 cm high and 36 cm long. You can adjust the length and height according to the size of the head. Now on one of the triangles, make three folds, 1 cm each. On the second rectangle, make folds too, but only slightly higher or lower than the first triangle.

Step 3

Fold the rectangles together and sew the seams. Then zigzag the allowances. The seams need to be sewn not to the very top, because then a jumper needs to be sewn there. Make the jumper for the hat like this: cut out a rectangle 15 cm long and 4 cm wide from the fabric. Or make it a little larger, leaving the fabric for seams. Zigzag the bridge and iron it. Insert the jumper into the top of the cap and stitch it in two approaches: first on one side and then on the other.

Step 4

After that, start processing the bottom. You can simply fold up the cap, sew and insert an elastic band. Or you can cut out a rectangle 3 cm wide and 40 cm long from the fabric. Fold the rectangle in folds and sew. This will create a frill. Sew the frill to the beanie so that the elastic can be inserted into it. Insert the elastic into the cap, taking into account its elasticity.

Step 5

If you have sewn a hat or waterproof fabric, insert a lining inside it. It can be made of any soft fabric: fleece, cotton and so on. So, cut out a circle about 40-50 cm in diameter from the fabric. Turn the beanie over to the wrong side and stitch a circle to the edges of the beanie. Then turn the hat onto the front side: the lining will be inside.
