Instructions
Step 1
Take all necessary measurements before sewing. You will need: the circumference of the head, the width of the visor, as well as the diameter of the bottom.
Step 2
The cap will consist of the following parts: the main oval bottom, 4 parts of the cap wall, a band and a visor. For your visor, you can choose a fabric in the color of the cap itself or a contrasting fabric. For a band, prepare a ribbon and a strap that you will tie over it.
Step 3
According to the measurements taken and the desired dimensions of the cap, complete the following parts: an oval bottom, a lining and a gasket for it, a rim, a top wall and gaskets, as well as a visor, a lower visor and a gasket for the visor.
Step 4
Choose fabric for sewing caps that is not loose, which does not stretch very much or almost does not stretch. It should be tight enough.
Step 5
In order to process the top of the cap, grind the details of the top wall, iron it out and trim. After that, topstitch the soutache in the area of the front seam. Two stripes in the form of a triangle will suffice. For a triangle, you need to outline the lines in advance.
Step 6
Fold the visor from the main fabric together with the visor with the right sides inward. Stitch evenly. The visor should tightly fit the cardboard gasket, therefore, before checking the connection of the visor to the main part, double-check that there are no folds.
Step 7
Bend the band directly into the cap, connect all the lining seams, turn the cap to the front side and insert an additional gasket between the cardboard and the main band.
Step 8
Work on the forehead using the special foot on the sewing machine. Get your strap ready. It can be woven or cut from patent leather. Prepare the holes for the buttons, attach the necessary badges or emblems.
Step 9
To give your cap a finished look, you need to process it using a special electroform. After the forehead of the cap is straightened, move the cap onto a wooden mold on which you can iron out the parts that are left untreated. And your cap is ready.
