In the summer, many girls prefer to go without hats. But if you wish, you can independently sew a cute summer baseball cap with an applique of large flowers. You don't have to be a professional seamstress to do this.

What is required to sew a cap?

Before you start sewing a cap, you will need to stock up on the necessary materials. Prepare a small piece of heavy cotton or linen fabric, an old baseball cap, and patches of fabric for appliqué. Also for work you will need: a piece of plastic for the visor, a piece of Velcro tape, fabric glue, a graphite pencil. And don't forget the standard sewing kit.

How to sew a cap from a finished baseball cap

It is best to start work by ripping the old cap into separate components. You should have details like the wedges, strap and visor. Then fold the fabric in two and lay out the pieces on it. In this case, be sure to observe the correct thread placement. Carefully trace the parts and cut them along the contours. As a result, you will have six wedges (4 of them should be of the correct shape, and 2 with a cutout). There will also be 4 stripes and a couple of parts for the visor.

After cutting, you can start stitching the elements. First, you need to sew the wedges together, and then sheathe the visor on both sides. A line must be laid along the entire perimeter of the visor to securely fix the plastic. Try to make it as flat as possible. The details of the old baseball cap will act as a lining for the new cap. The wedges will need to be connected with pins, and then stitched.

Then make double strips and twist them with a pin. Stitch and sew Velcro to both strips. Connect the cap and lining on the front side. Make sure that when doing this they completely match. Insert Velcro strips into the back.

If you want the cap to fit snugly on your head, make minor cuts in the back of the head and sew them on a sewing machine. But keep in mind that the side parts must remain unstitched. After that, carefully fasten the visor with pins and sew a seam on a sewing machine. At the end, you should sew a piping around the circumference of the cap.

But that's not all, because the cap requires additional decoration. Use a zigzag scissors to cut the flowers out of a pre-selected fabric. Sew them partially and glue them to the cap. Use fabric glue for this. Here is a nice summer headdress ready! But if you wish, you can do without a flower decoration or replace it with another.
