Zombies are dead people who were zombified by a sorcerer or magician. They are able to obey his will. This is exactly what the classic definition of the living dead sounds like. Today, the zombie apocalypse can be seen in many foreign films and TV series. It is curious that the causes of this epidemic vary in different films.

The original mission of all zombies

Before moving on to the causes of the zombie apocalypse in famous zombie films, it is necessary to briefly describe the behavior of the living dead in the classical sense. The dead, zombified by sorcerers and magicians, cannot talk like living people. They do not understand human speech, but they are able to bellow, growl and grunt. In the classical interpretation, the behavior of a zombie entirely depends on its owner (the sorcerer who zombified this dead man). He can control his zombies using certain spells from the so-called voodoo magic. You should tell how this happens.

The fact is that strange people who are fond of voodoo magic, according to legend, kidnap the souls of living people in order to revive this or that future dead person for their own selfish purposes. They perform a variety of magical rites and rituals, casting special spells. The kidnapped soul is sealed in some vessel, which is carefully guarded and guarded by a voodoo sorcerer in his bedroom. This is followed by a series of successive incantations cast over the alien soul. This is necessary in order to establish contact with her physical body.

After that, the person with whose soul the sorcerer "works" suddenly departs into another world. Tradition says that if an incision is made on any part of the body of such a deceased, then the blood from his wound simply will not ooze. When the day necessary for the sorcerer comes, he goes to the cemetery, where the body is buried, the soul of which is with him. Songs, ritual dances, tambourines, as well as sacrificial white chickens bear fruit: the sorcerer digs up the deceased and conducts certain rituals to revive him. If everything went well, then the body comes to life, and the sorcerer begins to exploit it diligently. Here it is - the classic mission of all the living dead! There was no question of any zombie apocalypse. Each sorcerer has his own zombie. This was the limit.

Why is there a zombie apocalypse in movies?

The dead will rise from their graves in the second coming. That's exactly what the Bible says. However, some directors simply perverted the meaning of these words and confined them to a real zombie apocalypse in their films. By the way, the Bible says that God will give people who believe in Him a new Orthodox body. Here we are not talking about some half-rotten rebellious dead, buried in their graves! The Bible has never described and is not going to describe resurrected people as walking and half-rotten corpses.

Even those directors and screenwriters who faithfully listened to the lines from the Bible continue to compose and shoot films with the walking dead, timed all this to coincide with the coming zombie apocalypse, supposedly destined for all mankind. The most popular film on this topic today is World War Z directed by Mark Foster, and the most popular television series about the adventures of zombies is, of course, The Walking Dead directed by Ernest R. Dickerson, Greg Nicotero, Gaia Ferland and others.

It is curious that the reason for the coming zombie apocalypse, the writers of both films, chose the mass infection of people with an unknown form of a virus capable of killing living organisms and then turning them into zombies. For example, in World War Z, UN officer Jerry Lane, played by the legendary Brad Pitt, is trying, by all means, to stop some kind of infection that can completely exterminate living humanity, filling the planet with senseless walking zombies.

Much the same thing happens in The Walking Dead. In the center of events is the life story of Sheriff Rick Grimes. Ironically, it was in his age that the first coming of the zombies fell - an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions. The coming zombie apocalypse is slowly taking over the entire globe. The heroes of the series, led by the already former Sheriff Rick, experience fear and discomfort day after day, as well as suffer heavy losses in a world filled with mindlessly wandering dead. The drama of the story told in The Walking Dead is not so much about the living dead as about the interpersonal relationships between the still surviving people. The writers claim that this problem is more dangerous than the zombies walking on the planet.

You can also remember the classic - "The Return of the Living Dead". There, the upcoming zombie apocalypse has nothing to do with viruses of unknown origin. The writers and directors of this film chose the military-defense industry of the United States of America as the reason for the revival of the corpses. The film clearly shows how the living dead leave their graves in the cemetery thanks to a special gas that is allegedly used for defense purposes in wartime. This gas is accidentally sprayed into the cemetery grounds, and then a heavy downpour begins, driving the horrible fumes into the cemetery ground.

In other words, the writers of The Return of the Living Dead inform their viewers that the US military has some kind of bacteriological lethal weapon in the form of an army of living zombies. With their help, the defense industry of the United States of America supposedly does not need additional equipment with military equipment - walking zombies will do everything for living soldiers.

If we recall the most classic film about the zombie apocalypse "Night of the Living Dead", filmed back in 1968 by director George R. Romero, then here, in general, the reason for the uprising of the living dead is some kind of radioactive radiation, which was once brought from Venus by one of the spaceships NASA.

And another famous film about walking zombies is "The Brain Dead" (better known as "Living Dead") directed by Peter Jackson. This film shows perhaps the most ridiculous reason for the zombie apocalypse. Once upon a time, a strange creature, a rat monkey, was taken from the island of Sumatra to New Zealand. It is her bite that turns one of the heroines of the series into a zombie. What follows is a chain reaction, as a result of which a small town on the outskirts of New Zealand is inhabited by creepy zombies.
