Of course, the choice of costume is largely determined by the nature of the dance and personal taste, but there are still official requirements for some dance costumes, for example, for ballroom dancing.

Step 1
Choose a belly dance costume only in specialized stores or check the quality of the fabric and finishes very carefully. It so happens that at the very first wash or even when performing a dance, the finish begins to crumble.
Step 2
Pay special attention to the bodice: it should be with a rigid frame, the cups of the bra should ideally fit both in shape and size. Check the fastening of the jewelry - they must be sewn on tightly. Pay attention to the weight and size of the belt, the heavier the belt, the greater the load on the hips (there are no special rules for a suit in this case).

Choose a ballroom dance costume for a few simple reasons. For European dances, a costume stylized as a ballroom dress of the 19th century is suitable, that is, men in a dark tailcoat and bow tie, and women in a long dress and gloves. The dress should be ankle-length, fitted, with layered chiffon skirts that create a sense of flight in the dance. It is better if the dress is one-color, saturated, but not annoying, easy-to-perceive color.

Choose an outfit for Latin American dances. They are more frank than for European dances, and even somewhat defiant. The movements in Latin American dances are more dynamic, sharper than in European ones, so the dresses are open, but moderately short. Choose bright, vibrant colors. The decoration should be shiny enough: bugles, rhinestones, semi-precious stones, feathers.

Please note that ballroom dancing is a kind of dance sport, so you choose a costume in accordance with the rules established by the International Dance Sports Federation (ISDF) and the Russian Dance Sports Federation (FTSD). There are many restrictions: for each age group, the costume itself, underwear, costume trim, accessories, jewelry, hairstyle, make-up, make-up are strictly regulated.
