A handmade fantasy hat is an indispensable accessory for the embodiment of many ideas for a carnival evening. Headdresses of all colors and shapes are able not only to create a festive mood, but also to complete the created image.
Cylinder hat
The top hat is a must-have for many carnival costumes. By changing the height of the crown and the width of the fields of the blank, you can make a wizard's or a magician's hat, a dandy's top hat, a clown's hat or a noble lady's headdress.
To make the crown of a hat, a rectangle is cut out of cardboard, the length of which corresponds to the girth of the head with the addition of an allowance of 2 cm on one of the short sides and 1-1.5 cm on both long sides. The height of the rectangular blank can be arbitrary - depending on which suit the hat is intended for. The strip is rolled up into a cylinder and glued along the side allowance. Allowances on the long sides are cut in the form of teeth or rectangles.
The glued part is placed on a piece of cardboard and contoured to obtain a pattern for the bottom of the hat. After that, a circle is drawn with a diameter of 5-7 cm more than the diameter of the bottom - this is a blank for the fields of the cylinder. The crown is set on a flat surface, the teeth of the allowances are coated with glue and the brim is first glued, then the bottom of the future hat. In order to mask the joints of the parts, you can cut out another circle and glue it on the inside of the cylinder fields.
The finished hat is painted in the desired color, decorated with ribbons, flowers, sequins, bows or a veil - depending on the carnival image being created.
Pirate cocked hat
On a sheet of Whatman paper or any other well-shaped paper, draw a circle with a diameter of about 40 cm. The cut out blank is pasted over with black paper on both sides or painted with paint. While the workpiece is drying, fringe and feathers are prepared to decorate the future cocked hat.
A sheet of white printer paper is folded lengthwise twice to form a narrow strip. The paper is slightly cut with scissors along the entire length of the workpiece, after which the sheet is unfolded and cut into four separate strips. The resulting fringe of each strip is curled by winding it around a pencil or ironing it with a scissor blade. After that, the fringe is glued to the round blank in such a way that the edges of the curls look up.
Three points are marked on the sides of the circle, the connection of which could form an isosceles triangle. Three folds are made along the imaginary sides of the triangle - these are the edges of the pirate hat. The middle of the cocked hat is pushed upwards from the inside, the edges of the hat are given the necessary bends.
A skull and bones are cut out of white paper, glued to a cocked hat and the necessary details are drawn with a marker. On the other side of the hat, feathers made from a cut strip of paper are glued. Small holes are made on the sides of the cocked hat, a hat elastic or any other tape is inserted into them to fix the hat on the head.
Lady's hat
An elegant, bright and very easy-to-make hat is obtained from ordinary plastic plates. A small large plate acts as the basis of such a headdress: a circle is cut out in its center so that the hat can stay on the head.
A deep plate is glued on top of a shallow one and the whole structure is painted with bright paint. The junction of the parts is masked with ribbons, bows and flowers. On the sides of the cap, small holes are made through which ribbons are passed, tied under the chin.
