Walnuts are a traditional material for making New Year's and Christmas toys. You can use both whole nuts and halves of the shell. This is especially convenient as the kernels can be used for New Year's baked goods and some salads.
It is necessary
- - walnuts;
- - colored cardboard;
- - colored paper;
- - sculptural plasticine;
- - universal glue;
- - foil;
- - strong threads;
- - a needle;
- - awl.
Instructions
Step 1
An antique Christmas toy - a whole walnut wrapped in foil. The foil is fine, without a paper layer. Cut the sheet in half. Wrap the walnut. Make a loop out of well-spun threads.
Step 2
To make a boat, the nut must be split into halves, and the shells must turn out to be even. This can be done with a short knife. Insert the edge of the knife between the shells in the part of the nut where the pedicel was. While gently pressing down on the knife, split the nut in half. Remove the nucleolus and membranes. Fill the shell with sculpted clay. Insert the mast (can be made from a match or cocktail tube). To the mast, glue or tie a triangular sail made of shred or colored paper, as well as a pennant. To hang such a boat on a Christmas tree, you can pre-drill 2 holes in the shell - on the bow and stern, and insert a loop into them. You can also weave the net in the form of a small string bag (for example, from a thread with lurex).
Step 3
You can make a turtle out of half of the shell. Part of the toy is made of colored cardboard. Place the colored side down. Circle the shell, placing it so that the convex part is on top. You now have an oval shape. Draw a head and legs to it. They are semi-ovals. For the head, make the semi-oval wider and longer than for the legs. Draw a triangle for the tail. You need 2 such blanks, made in mirror image. Glue them together with the wrong sides. Stick on the "shell" - half of the shell. Make a hole in the middle of the head and insert a loop.
Step 4
You can make a beetle in the same way. Circle the shell onto the cardboard. Draw a mustache, it can be quite thick and very intricate in shape. Draw six curved, thin legs. Next, make the beetle using the same technology as the turtle.
Step 5
Nutshell toys can also be double-sided. For this, of course, you need both parts of the shell. For example, in this way you can make a monkey. Circle the shell onto the cardboard. This will be the abdomen of the monkey. Draw in the head with small round ears, arms, legs and tail. Make a second blank in a mirror image, glue both pieces together. On one side, arrange the muzzle. Glue the shells on the front and back. In this way, you can make other figures - a bear, a pig, a hare, etc.
