The art of origami goes back more than one century. You can make a variety of toys from paper - flowers, animals, airplanes, boats. Unlike most of the crafts invented by Japanese masters of this amazing art, a classic boat is made not from a square, but from a rectangle.

Instructions

Step 1

The boat can be made from any paper, even from a candy wrapper. But if you want it to stay in the water for a while, take a thick sheet. This can be, for example, paper for drawing or sketching. A4 is fine.

Step 2

Fold the paper rectangle in half, matching its short sides. Try to fold the paper as straight as possible. The fold line must be well smoothed so that the paper boat holds its shape better.

Step 3

Place your double rectangle on the table with the fold on top. Find the midpoint of the fold line. You can even outline it by carefully folding the rectangle in half and again aligning the short sides. You don't have to smooth out the middle line, you just need to outline it.

Step 4

Place the rectangle again as in the previous step. Bend the top coals towards the centerline. These folds need to be properly ironed out. You have a triangle sail with 2 stripes underneath.

Step 5

Fold one strip so that the fold line matches the bottom edge of the sail. Fold the bottom rectangle on the other side in the same way. Bend the top corners of both strips so that they enclose the sail. It is desirable that the corners do not unbend. If the paper is too thick and does not hold its shape very well, it is better to bend them altogether so that the triangles are between the sides and the sail.

Step 6

Gently spread your design with your fingers and bend it so that you get a square. Place the piece on the table with its closed corner facing up. Fold the bottom corner up and align it with the closed corner. Smooth the fold line. Unscrew the second corner in the same way. Pull both open corners and straighten the boat.
