You have finally decided to switch from a compact digital camera to a DSLR. This is a pretty serious step for any aspiring photographer. But buying a DSLR does not in itself turn you into a professional. The first shots taken with a DSLR can even be disappointing, and you might think to go back to a compact camera again. But the main thing here is not to panic, but to learn how to handle a new instrument for you.
It is necessary
- - Camera,
- - constant photo practice,
- - Tutorials for using a SLR camera.
Instructions
Step 1
Read the instructions. Carefully study the rules for storing and transporting the camera. Become familiar with the proper care of your camera and lens. And, most importantly, observe them. Keep the instructions handy, make it one of your reference books. You can even put it under your pillow to be ready to find the right solution even at night. Seriously though, studying the instructions is the first and main step in dealing with any complex technique. Not only with a camera. Do not neglect this important rule.
Step 2
Learn to hold your DSLR properly. For this, oddly enough, you need to learn how to stand correctly. Make sure your feet are shoulder-width apart. Stand so that it is most convenient to take the picture. If in order to take a picture, you need to sit down - do it. The photographer must be able to move in such a way that nothing constrains him or hinders his shooting.
Step 3
Hold the camera properly. Grasp the body with your right hand and support the lens with your left (underneath, with your thumb half-wrapping the lens). Do not neglect the belt. Always wear it around your neck. Firstly, it will prevent the camera from falling and thus preserve the possibility of warranty repair. Secondly, the strap can just dangle close at hand and interfere with your photography. Avoid any discomfort, as a last resort the belt can be wrapped around your hand.
Step 4
Hold your camera firmly. At the time of shooting, it must be fixed in your hands or on a tripod in order to get a clear shot. If you do not have a tripod, press your elbows closer to the body, hold your breath while shooting.
Step 5
Shoot using the optical viewfinder. Many of them have a diopter function built in, so if you have vision problems, you can still take good pictures. The LCD screen can be used for viewing photos, but not for taking photos. As a rule, an LCD screen does not give an objective picture either in terms of image scale or color rendition.
Step 6
Use the advantages of a DSLR camera: DOF (depth of field). On a compact camera, the image is often sharp across the entire field. SLR cameras have the ability to adjust the DOF. DOF is adjustable using the diaphragm. Those. with the maximum aperture open, the object at which the lens is aimed is sharp, the rest of the field is blurred. Also remember, the longer the focal length of the camera, the less DOF.
