Garden hydrangea does not like calcareous soils. But he loves humus-rich soil. The soil around the hydrangea should not dry out. To prevent this, plant the plant in a lighted place or in partial shade, providing it with regular watering. Try to keep the hydrangea out of the wind when outdoors. During summer, fertilize the plant every two weeks with a lime-free fertilizer. It is best to use a fertilizer formulated specifically for hydrangeas.

To propagate a hydrangea at home, divide a bush in the spring, and plant young plants in holes twice their root system. A good effect is given by cuttings. To do this, in the middle of summer, cut off the green twigs of this year, 10-15 cm in size. Remove the lower leaves, and shorten the upper ones by two-thirds. Put them on water. The cuttings should be submerged by about one quarter. Change the water every three days. Add a minimum amount of calcium salts to the water. After the roots appear, the plant can be planted. But it is better to plant a young hydrangea first in pots for indoor flowers. And after it gets stronger, plant it in the open field in a permanent place.
