With a large assortment of bedding in modern stores, many housewives are happy to sew sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases with their own hands. So you can easily adjust the required size (especially if you have a non-standard sleeping place) and decorate the bedroom in the same style. The bed can be harmoniously combined with upholstery, window and door openings.

To sew a bedding set, you will need to choose a suitable fabric and master the linen seam on a sewing machine.

It is necessary

  • - a piece of linen or cotton linen;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - threads and needles;
  • - centimeter;
  • - pencil and needle;
  • - iron;
  • - optional: hook clasp.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the flange of the blade. Recently, unconventional linen made of brocade, tulle and other decorative materials has come into vogue. However, these pillowcases and duvet covers are used more as interior decoration. For everyday use, it is recommended to sew cotton or linen bedding. After deciding on a purchase, wash, dry and iron the canvas to avoid shrinkage.

Step 2

Make the necessary material calculations. Choose a piece with a width of 2, 20 m, so that you do not have to make a linen seam in the middle of the panel. Measure the length of the sheet and duvet cover according to the size of the bed. For a sheet, one bed length is enough plus allowances (they will hang beautifully from the bed) on all sides by 10 cm. For a duvet cover - two bed lengths and allowances for freedom of fitting, depending on the thickness of the blanket, on each side about 0.5-1 cm. Leave 1, 5 cm for the connecting seams everywhere.

Step 3

Calculate your pillowcase linen consumption separately. These are: two lengths and widths of the pillow; allowances for freedom of fitting pillowcases up to 3 cm and for seams in 1, 5 cm; hem-valve with a height of 15-20 cm.

Step 4

Cut out and sew the pieces of bedding. The easiest place to start is with a sheet. For her, you need one piece of suitable size. The edge must be folded twice and sewn with a straight stitch, making 3 mm indents from the edges.

Step 5

Cut the duvet cover in the form of two rectangles. Sew it with a strong, stretch-resistant linen seam. Fold the fabrics right-side up and stitch 3 mm from the edges. Leave a 40 cm blanket hole on one side.

Step 6

Turn the stitched duvet cover out and sew it around the perimeter at a distance of the same 3 mm. The cut pieces will be inside the seam. Finally, fold over the hem of the duvet opening to the inside of the duvet cover and sew with a regular finishing stitch.

Step 7

The pillowcase is made from one rectangular piece of cut. Fold it "face" inward: square along the length and width of the pillow, on top - hem-flap. Sew the sides of the pillowcase with a linen stitch and form and sew a hem.

Step 8

Now you just have to iron all the seams of the finished bedding set. If desired, you can sew a hook fastener on both sides of the blanket hole.
