Photographing a wedding is a difficult test for a photographer, and not only good technique, professionalism, but also tact, respect for Orthodox culture, knowledge of some rules are required.

Step 1
A few days before the wedding, visit the church, ask for a blessing (permission) from the priest for a photograph in the temple. Find out if flash can be used (some churches do not allow flash to be used as it can ruin icons and wall paintings). Talk to the priest, perhaps he will allow the chandelier (a large chandelier in front of the altar) to be lowered before the wedding, it will become much brighter to shoot with it, and it will effectively fill the upper part of vertical shots. Take some test shots.
Step 2
There are some rules to follow in the temple. In no case do not walk between the analogion and the iconostasis or between the priest and the iconostasis, always go around from behind. Do not walk on carpets, only priests and weddings can walk on them. Do not go to the dais in front of the iconostasis - the solea and the pulpit.
Step 3
If you have been given permission to flash, do not abuse it, the frequent flashes and clicks of the camera can disrupt the atmosphere of the wedding, destroy the soulfulness and soulfulness of the sacrament. Do not dazzle the priest and the young at the most crucial moment, choose the most correct combination of shooting modes. If you're not blessed with flash, use a tripod and shoot at slow shutter speeds.
Step 4
If you are photographing young people in the background of the church, do not shoot the church without domes and crosses, move away with the wedding couple for some distance.
Step 5
When taking photos in the church, duplicate each frame, and bring additional memory cards and batteries. Do not skimp on shots, so that, in the end, you do not face the fact that the bride closed her eyes at the crucial moment.
Step 6
Before each shot, carefully check the composition, whether there is anything superfluous in the frame. Very often, someone's head, shoulder, or a bouquet of flowers can ruin a great shot.
Step 7
Take pictures of not only young people, but also guests and relatives. Try to at least roughly find out who is married to whom. In addition to standard general shots on the steps of the temple, try to make interesting reportage photos (mother secretly wipes a tear in the temple, sister gives flowers, etc.)
Step 8
After the wedding, be sure to ask the priest to take some staged photos with the young.
