Drawing static inanimate objects can seem simple. However, it is precisely such objects that allow you to demonstrate skill in drawing details, distributing light and shadow. Try to depict an object with a lot of detail - for example, a cart.

How to draw a cart

It is necessary

  • - charcoal in pencil or charcoal crayons;
  • - sharpened pencil;
  • - eraser;
  • - stationery knife;
  • - the tablet;
  • - drawing paper;
  • - cotton swab;
  • - feathering;
  • - fixer or hairspray.

Instructions

Step 1

Think about what exactly you are planning to draw. The cart can be loaded with luggage or be empty. Will it be old and dry or new? Perhaps a horse will be harnessed to it? You can paint in an extremely realistic manner or just outline the contours of the drawing, use a pencil, pastel, sanguine, acrylic or oil paints.

Step 2

If you are not very well aware of what a cart looks like, look for its images in encyclopedias or in photo albums. You can get ideas by looking through the albums of paintings reproductions. You don't have to copy these samples - your composition may be completely different.

Step 3

Try to portray an unharnessed village cart. A very interesting drawing can be done with charcoal. It looks more dynamic than a pencil sketch. The main advantage of artistic charcoal is its amazing possibilities in the distribution of light accents and shadows.

Step 4

Attach a piece of loose drawing paper to a tablet or easel. The contours of the cart can be sketched with a sharpened pencil. Charcoal lines are difficult to erase. Therefore, before applying the finishing touches, think carefully about the composition and take your time.

Step 5

Draw a horizontal line at a slight angle and outline the contours of a horizontally elongated rectangle - this is the silhouette of the future cart. The most advantageous design will look in profile. Mark the circles - the outlines of the future wheels. On the right side, draw two parallel bars - the drawbar of the cart.

Step 6

Examine the sketch. Erase the bad lines. Put your pencil aside and grab the charcoal. It is more convenient to use a charcoal lead fixed in a plastic rod - it does not stain your fingers. But some people prefer crayon, which makes it possible to impose bolder strokes.

Step 7

Start with the shadow - it should darken the bottom of the cart, the inside of the wheels. Shade these places and go over them with feathering. You can use folded paper flagella instead. Cover the rims and spokes of the wheel with lighter strokes. Draw the individual boards from which the bottom of the cart is hammered. Outline the texture of the wood by drawing thick dark lines over the lighter background.

Step 8

Sharpen the eraser with a clerical knife so that it has a sharp tip. Drive over the charcoal with quick, parallel strokes, highlighting specific areas. The combination of dark and light stripes helps to perfectly imitate the texture of the wood.

Step 9

Take care of the background. At the bottom of the picture, create a shadow that simulates grass and ground. Cover the rest of the space with thin strokes of charcoal and rub them with a cotton swab until a uniform pale gray haze forms.

Step 10

Cover the finished drawing with a fixer or hairspray - this will prevent charcoal shedding and save your work.
