New Year is everyone's favorite holiday, and people start preparing for it in advance in order to have time to buy gifts for everyone, make decorations for the apartment and come up with a New Year's outfit. A tastefully selected costume with an intricate mask will make you a welcome guest at any costume party. And the New Year's mask is easy to make with your own hands.

Instructions
Step 1
You can make a mask from papier-mâché. To do this, prepare old newspapers and cut them into small pieces. Inflate a balloon and grease it with PVA glue. Begin to glue the ball with pieces of newspaper. First lay out one layer completely, then glue the next layer of newspaper on top. There can be 5-7 such layers in total so that the mask is strong and keeps its shape.
Step 2
After your workpiece has reached the required thickness, let it dry thoroughly. When the newspapers are dry and the glue is absorbed, carefully cut the workpiece lengthwise, after lowering the ball. You only need one half of the resulting form to work.
Step 3
Now in the mask you need to make holes for the eyes and mouth. First, draw the necessary parts of the face with a simple pencil, making sure that they line up with your eyes and mouth, and then carefully cut them out with a paper knife.
Step 4
Now you can go directly to the design of the mask. If necessary, stick the missing elements on the mask - ears, mustache, hair. Now take your paints and a brush and start coloring. You can draw either the face of a funny animal or create a beautiful Venetian mask.
Step 5
The mask can be done not only on the ball, but also directly on yourself. The procedure for creating is almost the same, however, before starting to apply layers of newspaper soaked in glue, smear your face with Vaseline. After the mask has reached the required thickness, you can dry it with a hairdryer to quickly remove it, and then leave it to dry overnight, but not on your face, but on the desktop.
Step 6
In order to be wearing a mask for the New Year, it is not necessary to do it for several days. You can simply paint the mask on your face! To do this, you will need theatrical makeup or body art paints. First, paint the face in the color of the animal you have chosen, and then start drawing on small elements - make animal eyes, a nose, draw a mustache.
