The creator of the idea of Tilda's interior toys is Tony Finnanger. She has published about a dozen books, which published patterns and descriptions of cute dolls made of fabric, which have won the hearts of many needlewomen around the world. Tilda Ballerina - light and airy - will become a decoration of the house.
Materials for sewing dolls
The Tilda Ballerina doll has a silhouette similar to other Tony Finnanger dolls, so in principle you can use any suitable pattern, but it also has its own characteristics. The ballerina's figure is slender, the silhouette is light and airy, so it's better to make her own pattern for her. Moreover, this is very easy to do. Enough to enlarge the drawing and print it on the printer.
In addition to paper patterns, you will need:
- flesh-colored or beige cotton fabric for making the body
- tulle;
- fabric for the bodice of the dress;
- thin satin ribbons;
- lace;
- scissors;
- threads;
- a needle;
- synthetic winterizer;
- sewing machine;
- acrylic paint for textiles;
- blush.
Tilda Ballerina's manufacturing technology
Open the fabric. Fold the material right side in, attach the patterns for the doll's body, circle them with a pencil and cut out, leaving 0.5 cm for allowances along all the cuts. Cut out the details of the front and back of the doll's body from decorative fabric for the ballerina's dress.
On the front part of the body, on the upper cut, lay 2 small opposite folds. Align this part with the bottom edge of the head part and stitch with a sewing machine, carefully distributing the folds. Sew the back piece to the head, aligning the cuts.
Connect the prepared parts for the ballerina's torso and sew them on a sewing machine, leaving the underside and shoulders unsewn.
Turn the part out onto the front side and stuff it quite tightly with padding polyester. Fold the details of the ballerina's arms and legs right side inward and stitch. Turn them right out and lightly fill with filler.
Insert the pieces into the openings on the doll's body. Fold the allowances inward and sew, joining the parts of the torso and arms, torso and legs with a needle-forward seam. Mark the middle of the arms and sew a couple of stitches here to create folds. In the same way, make the bend of the legs at the knees.
Sew the bundle. Cut out several circles with a diameter of 10 cm from tulle (the more their number, the more magnificent the skirt will turn out). Fold the circles 4 times and cut an arc with a diameter of 0.5 cm. Fold the blanks for the tutu together and sew with small basting stitches along the belt line. Put the skirt on the doll and sew it to the waistline with a blind seam by hand. Decorate the seam with a satin ribbon.
Make pointe shoes. Draw shoes on the ballerina's legs to match the dress. Sew on a thin satin ribbon. Tie the leg crosswise with it and tie it with a beautiful bow.
Draw the face and hair for the doll. Draw the lines of a smooth hairstyle, like a real ballerina, paint everything with acrylic paint in black or brown. Draw 2 dots to simulate the eyes. Paint the round cheeks with blush. Decorate Tilda Ballerina's hair with artificial flowers and lace to match the dress.
