When using knitting needles, some patterns may require "crosses" - the so-called crossed loops. By crossing the thread walls in one direction or the other, you can create a variety of patterns. In addition, the criss-cross of the stitches in solid hosiery creates particularly dense and warm garments. Try cross-stitching a small piece of fabric and embossed patterns using this type of buttonhole.
It is necessary
- - circular or straight knitting needles;
- - auxiliary knitting needle or loop holder (pin);
- - yarn.
Instructions
Step 1
Tie a sample of knitted fabric 10 by 10 centimeters with straight knitting needles or a test strip in circular rows - this will be enough for you to evaluate the quality of your work and knitting density. First, insert the right knitting needle to the left under the bow of the loop from the left knitting needle. You need to grab the thread (located behind the knitted fabric), after which the resulting loop is pulled to the "face" of the work. In front of you is the front loop, which in some knitting guides is also called the "front loop for the lower lobe."
Step 2
Place the thread in front of work and sew a purl crossed stitch. To do this, the working needle must enter the bow of the loop (located on the left needle) with a movement to the right. The thread must be pulled to the wrong side of the knitted fabric. So often they knit an elastic band for socks so that it is more elastic and does not wear out for a long time.
Step 3
Try a knit stitch pattern made entirely of crossed stitches (for example, on the same socks). For hosiery knitting, use only front "crosses". When working on straight and back rows, also cross stitches on the back row. Accordingly, the purl crosses are located above the facial crosses.
Step 4
Master simple embossed patterns, which are based on knitting "cross" (the cross of the thread bows of the loops). Knitting tutorials sometimes require crossing the buttonhole either to the right or to the left. Be careful, as the appearance of the entire front side of the knitted fabric depends on the location of the cross!
Step 5
Practice making a cross stitch with different bends. This must be done in the front row. If you knit the second stitch after the first, the cross will be on the left side; when the second loop is knitted in front of the first, a tilt to the right is obtained. You will need this skill to create popular plaits, braids, nets and other intricate decorative weaves.
