Wild stone is well suited for interior and exterior decoration of the interior of country houses. The rooms, in the design of which this material was used, acquire a unique individuality. The cost of artificial stone in stores is quite high, but it can be made at home.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by casting a mold. To do this, select a suitable sample. Make a mold from plastic panels. It should be 1 cm wider and higher than the edges of the specimen. Glue the cut walls and the bottom of the formwork. You can also use any suitable plastic container for pouring, for example, ice cream containers.
Step 2
Prepare a soapy solution. To do this, dissolve two drops of dish soap in a small bowl of warm water. If you are using gypsum stone as a sample, cover it with three coats of linseed oil or varnish. After that, generously lubricate the sample and the formwork with grease. Place the stone in the formwork and start pouring.
Step 3
Carefully cut off the spout of the can filled with all-purpose, clear silicone. Extrude the silicone into the mold. If you are using more than one cylinder, compact the silicone using the prepared soap solution. To do this, dip a brush into it and moisten the silicone liberally, then tamp it down.
Step 4
At the very end of the pouring, take a spatula, moisten it with soapy water and level the surface. Leave the sample to dry. After the silicone dries, disassemble the formwork and take out the resulting shape. Wash it in soapy water.
Step 5
Start casting the cement stone. To do this, measure out one part of sand and three parts of cement. Use concrete dyes to give the stone a specific color. Their amount should be 3% of the total weight of the cement. Mix the dye in the syringe with the sand, and then add the cement and stir. Add water to the consistency of thick sour cream. Fill half of the mold with cement mortar and tamp.
Step 6
Using a spatula, scoop the tamped cement into the edges of the mold. Cut out a piece of the masking net so that it is smaller than the outline of the shape and line the bottom with it. Then make a small amount of dye-free grout, put it in a mold and tamp it down again. Cover the mold with fluted glass.
Step 7
Remove the stone from the mold after 12 hours. It will be ready for the final stage only in a few days, that is, after the cement has gained strength. Cover the wild stone with one coat of drying oil, after which you can use it for decoration.
