Step 1
Artificial stone is a special composition of polymer resins and natural marble chips. It is sturdy but can be drilled and cut as needed. On the market, this material is presented in two types: liquid and sheet. Using any kind will lead you to the same end result, it's just that the technologies for their manufacture are completely different.
Step 2
Use waste-free liquid stone technology. It is good to have a special mold for filling. The stone is poured into the workpiece and hardened. You just have to get it out and install it on the kitchen furniture. Unconditional convenience is that you will have the entire tabletop, without any joints and seams, along with a one-piece sink.
Step 3
In the absence of a form, make a blank from chipboard, MDF or plywood according to the exact drawings. Prime it well with a special compound in the color of the stone. Once completely dry, spray with a thick layer of liquid stone and, after hardening, sand thoroughly to perfect smoothness. No roughness should remain.
Step 4
To work with sheet stone technology, first make a frame base of chipboard - and then use a special glue to glue the sheets of stone onto it. In this case, be very careful at the joints so that the edges do not diverge. You can additionally pass through these places with a thin layer of a sealant, but not necessarily. The main thing is to sand then so that the seams are not only not felt under the fingers to the touch, but are also invisible to the eyes.
Step 5
Please note that the temperature resistance of liquid and sheet stone is different. If this factor is important for you, then remember: leaf stone becomes soft at a temperature of 160 ° C, and liquid stone loses its properties only after 600 ° C.
Step 6
Self-made countertops are fraught with many difficulties and obstacles. The lack of the necessary form, the complexity of its manufacture in artisanal conditions, the insufficient spray layer, the appearance of residual air bubbles during pouring, the ability to erase a considerable layer of stone during home polishing - this is only a small part of them. Therefore, it is better to draw up a detailed drawing of the countertop and purchase a finished slab of the required size. According to the scheme, cut the necessary holes on it yourself or ask them to do this for you in production.
