You decided to sew a skirt, but you cannot find what you like in the magazine in order to explain to the master what you want? Try to draw a skirt. This is also useful if you are going to sew yourself. Having drawn a skirt, you can roughly imagine what its silhouette should be, what details are needed - and accordingly, finding or building a suitable pattern will be much less problematic. In order to draw a skirt, there is absolutely no need to draw a human figure. It is enough just to imagine the approximate proportions.

Instructions
Step 1
It is most convenient to draw a model of clothes in the center of the sheet, while it does not matter at all how this sheet lies. If the skirt is short and wide, lay the sheet horizontally; if long and narrow, it will look better on a vertical sheet. By eye, divide the sheet in half widthwise and draw a vertical centerline almost to the edges. In the same way, divide the sheet in width and draw a horizontal centerline.
Step 2
Divide the distance between the horizontal axial to the upper edge of the sheet approximately in half and draw through the resulting point a segment parallel to the upper edge of the sheet and the horizontal axial. Lay two line segments symmetrically about the vertical axis. This will be the top line of the belt. Draw perpendicular segments down to the edges of the segment and set the width of the belt on them. Connect the ends of the perpendiculars.
Step 3
Draw the main part of the skirt. If the skirt is flared, draw diverging lines from the ends of the lower belt line downward, to the length of the intended skirt. Connect the end points of these lines with a straight line parallel to the bottom edge of the sheet. If the skirt is straight, draw short diverging lines from the ends of the belt - on the pattern they will end at the hip line. From the lower ends of these lines, draw two lines downward, parallel to the sides of the leaf or slightly diverging. Draw these lines to the estimated length of the skirt and connect the ends with a horizontal straight line.
Step 4
Think over the subtleties. Do you want the skirt to consist of two panels or do you prefer a four-piece skirt? If the second is from the middle of the belt along the vertical centerline, draw a thicker line to the bottom of the skirt. Will there be pockets on the skirt and which ones? Draw patch pockets. They can be located both on the hip line and below. The simplest pockets are just squares and rectangles. Draw two horizontal lines approximately at the level of the hip line. Make sure they are symmetrical about the vertical axis. From the ends of these lines, draw down perpendiculars, the ends of which connect in pairs with straight lines. For welt pockets, simply draw two oblique, symmetrical lines, stepping back slightly from the edges of the skirt at hip line.
Step 5
For a dressmaker, such a sketch will be enough, but if you decide to “dress” a drawn princess or even just a girl, you need to draw a little differently. In this case, the belt of the skirt will not look completely straight, so instead of the upper and lower straight lines, draw arcs, the convex part of which looks down. Draw the bottom line of the skirt in the same way.
Step 6
For a princess, of course, you need a long and fluffy skirt. In this case, draw not straight lines from the waist down, but wavy lines and connect the ends from below with a wavy line too. You can make a few more flounces on the skirt by drawing several wavy lines at different heights parallel to the bottom of the skirt.
