Oil paintings are the most colorful and expressive, especially when compared to pencil drawings. They can decorate any interior. However, learning to draw using this technique is quite difficult and costly, because the cost of all the necessary materials can be considerable.
Instructions
Step 1
If funds allow, purchase canvas, paints (they are the largest part of all costs), brushes, glue and primer. Everything in order. Choose the canvas carefully, because it will depend on it how the paint will lie, as well as what texture the drawing will have. A canvas made of hemp or linen can provide a good drawing of strokes.
Step 2
Keep in mind that you will not be able to start drawing right away. The fact is that you first need to glue the acquired canvas. This will protect it from paint penetration to the wrong side. This procedure is carried out using ordinary wood glue. After that, be sure to place the canvas in a ventilated area to dry it. Remember to check if the glue fold cracks after drying or not. If not, then this means that you can proceed to the next step.
Step 3
Now take on the primer. This point is necessary, since you cannot paint an oil painting without a primer. Treat this stage of the canvas preparation with special attention. If you apply the primer inaccurately and unevenly, or the material itself turns out to be poor, then your painting will turn out to be nondescript and dull, stains may appear on it.
Step 4
Take paints, brushes and you can start painting. At the same time, take your time, apply strokes carefully and accurately: negligence in this matter is not welcome. There should also be no smudges on the canvas. since this is in principle impossible, because oil paints are quite thick in texture, they do not flow. Once you've painted what you want, let the painting dry.
