Bloodworms are one of the most popular baits among anglers. You can fish with this bait all year round, especially in spring, winter and late autumn, when the rivers enter their banks, the water brightens, and the fish wake up with completely non-vegetarian tastes. You do not need to spend money to buy a bloodworm, you can get it yourself.

It is necessary

  • - long stick;
  • - sieve;
  • - scoop;
  • - gauze;
  • - bucket;
  • - newspaper;
  • - foam or wooden box;
  • - the cloth.

Instructions

Step 1

There are several effective ways to catch bloodworms that will not pose any particular difficulties for fishermen. Mosquito larvae can be found in muddy areas or in shallow water. In order to get bloodworms in winter, it is necessary to make a hole in the ice, measuring one meter by one meter. Take a long and sturdy stick and attach a ladle to the end of it. Dip it into the hole and scoop up the silt in which the bloodworm lives. Then transfer the sludge to a sieve and rinse in water until the sludge-free mosquito larvae remain in the sieve. If you want to catch only large bloodworms, then you should choose a mesh of the appropriate size, small larvae will be washed out.

Step 2

In summer, it will be a little more difficult to get bloodworms, there are very few of them, and it is difficult to find them. Look for mosquito larvae in the same places as in winter, only choose more shaded areas with cool water. Make a large bag from several layers of gauze, put a stone and fish waste in it, lower it to the bottom. The gauze bag should lie in water for at least a day. After the time has elapsed, take out the bag, in it you will find the bloodworm you need. To sort coarse from fine, you can rinse it through a sieve.

Step 3

There are places where bloodworms are found in abundance, it is easy to get it directly on the fishing itself. It is enough to scoop up a bucket of silt and put it near the fire. The bloodworm, feeling the warmth, rushes to the surface. All that remains is to collect the mosquito larvae. Spread the collected bloodworms on the newspaper, after twenty minutes of drying, the larvae will become bright and mobile. Transfer them to a foam or wooden box with small holes, pre-line the bottom with a damp cloth.

Step 4

To keep bloodworms alive for a long time, wrap them in a damp piece of canvas or burlap. Moisten the flap and squeeze lightly, sprinkle the larvae on one half of it in a thin layer together with scraps of damp paper and sleeping tea, lay two more such layers, separating with a damp sheet of paper, cover the top with the second half of the canvas. Keep bloodworms in this form in the cold (in winter - on the windowsill or by the balcony door, in summer - on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator).
