Drawing people at any activity is very interesting. However, this type of drawing has its own characteristics, because the position of the sitter's body is constantly changing. Even if the body is relatively motionless (as, for example, a musician's), the hands are always in motion, and the facial expression changes depending on the character and shades of the piece. It is necessary to learn to grasp the nuances of the mood, as well as the most characteristic postures.

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - pencil;
  • - pictures depicting a performer on a particular instrument.

Instructions

Step 1

View photos of the musicians. Let it be, for example, violinists. Try to choose the pictures so that the performers are from different angles. Choose the most characteristic one. For a violinist, this will be a full-face image with a slight turn of the head.

Step 2

Draw a vertical line. It sets the general position of the musician's body while playing. In this case, it does not matter whether this centerline will run directly in the center of the figure or slightly to the side. From it, you will set the proportions and determine the position of the main lines. Draw an oblique line from the tops of the musician's head at the angle at which his head should be tilted. This line will connect the middle of the forehead to the end of the violin neck.

Step 3

Divide the oblique line in half. Draw a perpendicular to the middle. He will set the direction of the bow. The size of this piece depends on the construction of the violin. For an academic instrument, it is approximately equal to the length of the violin itself. The folk can be longer or shorter, sometimes much. The point through which the bow passes divides the instrument approximately 1: 3, starting from the musician's cheek.

Step 4

Determine the position of the chin. To do this, mentally divide the angle between the straight and oblique lines into 3 parts. Set aside 1/3 from the oblique, outline the oval of the face. The proportions of the face itself are the same as those of any adult. You can draw an auxiliary line through the middle of the forehead and the bridge of the nose to the most protruding point of the chin.

Step 5

When drawing the head of a person who is looking directly at the viewer, this line is usually divided into 7 equal parts. In this case, it can be divided into the same number of parts, but so that the 3 lower ones are slightly shorter than the others. Mark the position of the lips, nose and eyes. The lower edge of the lips runs along the mark dividing parts 1 and 2 from below, the bottom of the nose is between parts 2 and 3, the eyes are at the level of the second mark from the top, etc.

Step 6

Determine the position of your hands. The right hand with a bow is positioned with the back side up, the left hand wraps around the neck from below. The fingers are bent, the elbows are slightly set aside. Mark the position of the shoulders and forearms.

Step 7

Draw in the details of the face. Pay attention to the fact that the musician is looking down, that is, his eyelids are lowered. Pay special attention to facial expressions. See how the folds and wrinkles are located. It is these lines that are able to convey the mood. Note that in this perspective, when the head is slightly turned, the distances between the main lines of the face and the folds will not be the same. On the cheek that is turned towards the viewer, these distances will be slightly larger.

Step 8

Draw the details of the violin. The soundboard of this instrument is oval in shape with notches along the long edges. There are 2 holes cut out on the deck - f-holes. Their outline resembles an integral sign. Do not forget to draw more clearly the neck with the head and pegs, as well as the strings.

Step 9

Complete your drawing with clothing and interior details. If the arms are bent at the elbows, folds form on the sleeves, going from the inside of the elbow to the outside. A piece of a scene, a window, etc. can be used as a fragment of the interior.
