Choose from tools from well-known companies - Suzuki (Japan), Hohner (Germany), Seydel (Germany). These are the largest manufacturers of harmonicas, which produce not only top-class harmonicas, but also solid instruments for beginners. Already for 800-1000 rubles, you can buy an instrument that will be pleasant and convenient for a beginner to play. Cheaper harmonicas from unknown Chinese manufacturers are just pieces of plastic, not musical instruments.

Decide on the type of harmonica. Despite the fact that there are a lot of varieties of harmonics, most of them are used only by professional musicians who play in orchestras. For an amateur, the choice is significantly narrowed: you just need to decide which, diatonic or chromatic, accordion you need.
Step 3
The most common variant is a 10-hole diatonic harmonica, it has only pure notes, that is, there are no semitones, but they can also be played if you master special playing techniques. The diatonic harmonica is the best choice for the beginner and is ideal for the blues. On the chromatic harmonica, you can play all the notes of the scale without using any special techniques; on such an harmonica, you can fully play classical pieces.

The accordion tongues can be made of copper or steel. Copper tongues are the most common, they sound great, but they often break, especially for beginners who can overdo it on blowing out sounds. Harmonics with steel tongues are offered by Seydel, they are almost impossible to break.
Step 5
Diatonic harmonicas have different tonality. A beginner should stop at the instrument in "C major", since it is for the harmonics of this key that most self-study guides are written, training videos are also usually recorded using such an accordion.
Step 6
Be sure to check the harmonica in the store, all holes should be well blown out both for inhalation and exhalation, the sound should be clear, without ringing and noise.
