People have been making musical instruments since ancient times - everyone experiences pleasure by extracting melodious sounds from objects at hand. Over the course of history, many simple constructions - the ancestors of musical instruments - have been improved, and full-fledged and complex musical instruments have been created on their basis. However, both adults and children are still happy to make reed pipes and play on a comb, through the teeth of which waxed paper is passed - such a comb is the prototype of the well-known harmonica.

How to make a harmonica

It is necessary

  • - cardboard tube from paper towels;
  • - round elastic band;
  • - wax paper.

Instructions

Step 1

If you want to play a harmonica but don't have the opportunity to buy an instrument for yourself, you can make one yourself. To create a homemade harmonica, you will need a paper towel tube, rubber band, and waxed paper.

Step 2

Take a cardboard tube and close one of its ends with a piece of waxed paper, securing it around the hole with a rubber band so that the paper fits snugly. Near the closed end of the tube in the upper part of it, pierce a hole with an awl or a thick needle.

Step 3

Blow into the open end of the cardboard tube for a sound that resembles a harmonica. With the help of breathing, you create vibration, and it, in turn, creates sound - accordingly, you can experiment with sound, changing the strength of your breathing and listening to how your "melody" changes.

Step 4

You can try covering the opening of the cardboard tube not only with wax paper, but also with another material, such as plain paper or thin aluminum foil. Changing the material will change the timbre of the sound, and you can achieve interesting musical effects. Any adult can make such an accordion, and under his leadership, any child.
