The stand-up collar is a rectangular strip sewn to the neckline. The uprights differ in height, neck fit, corner design and top edge. In addition, there are stand-up collars, one-piece with the main details of a dress or blouse. All this must be taken into account when cutting.

It is necessary

  • - the main pattern of the dress;
  • - the cloth:
  • - tape measure:
  • - sewing accessories;
  • - graph paper;
  • - ruler;
  • - pencil.

Instructions

Step 1

The simplest version of the stand is a rectangular collar that does not fit tightly around the neck. Before you cut it, you need to model the patterns of the shelf and back in accordance with the chosen style. For example, the neck can be widened. Draw lines on the templates of the shelf and back, parallel to the lines of the neck, but at some distance. Cut out the details along the new paths.

Step 2

Measure the circumference of the neck using the sewing patterns. It is convenient to do this by placing a measuring tape on the edge. Draw a rectangle on a sheet of graph paper, the length of which is equal to the resulting measurement, and the width is the height of the future collar. Further actions depend on the shape of the rack. If it is rectangular and without a fastener, cut out a rectangle, fold a piece of fabric in half along the weft, pin the pattern so that one long edge coincides with the fold. Add on short 0.5 cm cuts for overlap and 0.5 cm allowances on all sides. Cut out the part.

Step 3

Fold the rectangle in half, right side out, and press the fold. Fold the collar up, sweep and stitch short seams.

Step 4

Baste the outside of the collar to the neckline, folding the right sides together. Try on what you get, sew on the collar. Baste the inner part and stitch along the existing stitching.

Step 5

A collar with a curly top edge or rounded corners is sewn in almost the same way, but from two identical parts. Allowance for flipping needs to be added not only along the short seams, but also along the top. Cut them out, fold them right over, and sew the side and top seams. If necessary, cut an allowance in several places or cut off the inner corners so that the finished product does not bump. All other work is performed in the same way as for the manufacture of a rectangular collar.

Step 6

A stand-up collar can also be with a fastener. In this case, draw a rectangle, and then increase its length by the width of the strap multiplied by 4. This type of collar is sewn to the dress in the same way as the previous one, with the only difference that it is necessary to mark in advance the place for the loop.

Step 7

The tight-fitting stand-up collar is cut slightly differently. This collar should be curved, and the larger it is, the tighter the stand will fit to the neck. Start the construction of the pattern with a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the half-girth of the neck measured according to the patterns. Then, from the lower left corner, set aside 1/3 of the half-grip along the long side. Put, for example, point C. From the lower right corner up, set a segment from 1 to 4 cm, depending on the height of the stand and how close you want the collar to be. Connect this new point (for example, A1) to point C with a smooth line. From the upper left corner, draw a curved line parallel to the arc you just drew. The extreme point should be strictly above the lower right corner. If it is necessary to make a fastener, extend the edge of the collar, raised upwards, to the required length. This collar is assembled and sewn in the same way as a rectangular one.
