Sample - a short video that gives an idea of the quality of video and sound. The need for cutting a sample arises when the user wants to upload an existing video for viewing or downloading. To upload it on a torrent tracker, you definitely need such a video if the distribution contains author's voice acting or full dubbing.
Instructions
Step 1
You can work with video by cutting a sample in many programs. The most common are VirtualDub, AVI-MPEG Splitter, and AVI-Mux GUI.
Step 2
Work in AVI-MPEG Splitter
Download, install and run the program. In the top bar, click Open, find the file you want and open it. Use the slider and curly braces to indicate the beginning of the sample and its end. The same can be done through the Start Time and End Time buttons in the menu on the right. Having selected the desired fragment, press the Split button. A save window will open. Specify the name of the file and the folder where you want to save it.
Step 3
Cutting video in VirtualDub
Download the distribution kit of the program, install it and run it. Next, in the upper toolbar, go to "File" - "Open video file". A window will open in which you need to select the desired movie. Click Open. Place the slider on the second of the movie, which will be the beginning of the sample. Next, click on the left "cut" button, then move the slider until the moment in which the fragment will be finished. Cut from the film the most characteristic fragments that will give the viewer an idea of its quality. The length of the video should be about a minute.
On the top bar, go to "Video" - "Streaming Copy". When the program finishes copying, go to "File" - "Save as AVI …". Tell the program which directory to save the file to by specifying its name and clicking on the "Save" button.
Step 4
Sampling in AVI-Mux GUI 1.17.7
Download the program, run the installer and open the installed program. In the upper window, right-click "Add" and add a video from which you want to cut a sample. Click "Open". The video file will appear in the upper window. Double click on it, as a result of which you will see information about the file. Select "Settings". Choose the same format in which the movie was created. For example, if the file is in Matroska format, then the standard output format needs to be switched to.mkv, and then click manually set split points.
Next, enter the moment of the beginning of the sample in the window that opens, press the "+" button, enter the end time of the clip and press the "+" again. When both points appear on the screen, confirm your selection with the Ok button. The sample will be the part between the marked points.
Among the main settings, select Input / output settings, confirm your choice with the Ok button, then in the main program window, click Start. A window for saving the sample will open, where you need to specify the name of the file to be saved and the directory for saving. Please note that this program saves all three fragments into which the video was cut. You only need the second piece.
