A lightweight folding chaise longue is a useful and practical thing in all respects. With just a few moves, you can create a cozy spot in the garden or on the beach. The advantage of the fabric construction is that it is easy to store and maintain, which in turn extends the life of the sun lounger.
To create a sun lounger yourself, you will need:
- planed dry board;
- plastic plugs;
- durable fabric;
- furniture screws and bolts;
- handle for a broom with a diameter of 30 cm.
Assembling the frame
To create the legs of the back, use parts 125 cm long, for the seat legs - 100 cm. An obligatory part will be a stop, for which you need a segment of 59 cm long. The above components, except for the seat legs, are cut lengthwise. The result should be two equal parts of 5 cm.
The assembled design assumes that the chaise longue will have a backrest tilt adjustment made in three levels. To obtain such a part in the workpiece using a drill, drill three holes that will have a diameter of 3.5 cm. Place the drilling marks at a distance of 27, 20 and 13 cm from the edge of the part. Using a circular saw, cut the part lengthwise into two equal pieces.
In the parts that will form the back legs, drill holes 5 mm in diameter and depth. The holes located at the ends will serve as a place for screwing in the confirmations. From the front part, drill holes for the crossbars with a diameter of 3 cm, from the back - for plugs measuring 1, 6 cm, for bolts and ties you will need a thinner drill to obtain a diameter of 6 and 8 mm.
It's time to use the prepared broom cuttings. They will form the basis of the crossbeams. Cut two pieces for the back legs of 57 cm, two for the seat legs of 51 cm, one for the 64 cm stop. Drill holes for the confirmations from the end side. Please note that the assembly of the chaise longue will require holes for the crossbar and bolts. They are drilled at the ends of stops with a diameter of 5 and 6 mm, respectively.
We form the sun lounger seat
When choosing a fabric, opt for durable, waterproof materials that are easy to clean. The color scheme is a matter of taste. It can be military style or ladies' romantic flowers.
Fold the selected fabric for the widow and sew with a sewing machine. Turn the workpiece to the right side and join the free edge by bending the end. The length of the finished seat should be about 112 cm. You can attach the seat to the frame by means of fabric loops or eyelets. The second option involves the use of a bodice tape, which gives strength to the structure. If the choice is made in favor of fabric loops, make them wide enough so that they will not rip under the weight of an adult.
