Every day, do-it-yourself felt crafts are becoming more and more popular - beads, handbags, flowers, toys. Children are very fond of making products from felt, developing at the same time a craving for creativity and fine motor skills. Try to create your own work of art, for this you only need a small set of materials, the simplest tools and imagination.
It is necessary
- - non-spun wool, better than several colors;
- - different fibers for decoration (silk or woolen threads, pieces of fabric;
- - plastic film "with bubbles";
- - towels;
- - soap;
- - a container for water.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut a piece out of bubbled polyethylene so that it is slightly larger than the intended sample. Note that the wool will shrink by about 1/3, that is, to get a sample 20 cm wide, you need to lay the wool 30 cm wide, and the piece of polyethylene should be at least 32 cm. Place the cut piece of polyethylene on the table with the bubbles up.
Step 2
Start styling the wool. Take a bunch of wool in one hand, and pull out flat strands from it with the other. Please note that your hands must be absolutely dry. Lay the strands from top to bottom, in one direction, trying to achieve a uniform fabric. Lay some strands with an overlap, if possible, close all the sparseness.
Step 3
Lay the next layer from left to right. Likewise, gently pull the strands and lay them next to each other, covering the entire surface of the sample.
Step 4
Alternate horizontal and vertical layers, for the first time make 4-6 layers, and next time decide to increase or decrease the number of layers to change the thickness of the felt.
Step 5
For double-sided felt, use a different color for the top layers. If you want to create a panel decorated with stripes, flowers, dots and other elements, put strands of a different color, silk, woolen, linen threads, pieces of fabric, etc. on the last layer. in the right order. Please note that silk threads, pieces of fabric will not sit with the wool, so they will go in waves.
Step 6
Wet the finished composition from a spray bottle (or just by hand) so that half of the area is covered with drops. Cover it from above with the same piece of film, having previously greased it with soap. Press down, smoothing the surface, as a result all the wool inside should become damp.
Step 7
Remove the film, lather your hands and gently press and pat the fur. When the sample is sufficiently lathered, cover it with plastic wrap and turn it over, start lathering on this side. The soap will help the wool fibers to penetrate and intertwine faster.
Step 8
Rub, adding soap, on both sides. To reduce the amount of water, place the sample on a towel, roll it up and press down a little.
Step 9
After a while, you will notice that the fibers are entangled and no longer move. Make it easier to work by wrapping the sample with the film in a tube and rolling it like a rolling pin. Unfold, wrap in the opposite direction again. Roll this way several times.
Step 10
When the felt is ready, rinse it in several waters with vinegar added. Spread out and dry on a flat surface. If at any point you decide that the felt is not felted enough, wet it and continue the process.
Step 11
To make felt beads or other three-dimensional objects, choose a suitable base, for example, plastic balls. Then cover them with several layers of wool fibers, alternating the direction of the layers. Rub the balls with soap, making the coat frizzy, then rinse with water.
