On the farm, the needlewoman sometimes accumulates pieces of genuine leather from old jackets, bags or raincoats. You can make a variety of beautiful and useful DIY crafts from these multi-colored scraps.
Leather flower
Original leather flowers can be made by hand. In the future, these crafts are used to make brooches, necklaces, hairpins, to decorate bottles or for panels.
Draw rose petals on thick paper. Make several small and several large petals depending on the size of the flower you want. Attach the prepared templates to the seamy side of the leather patches, circle them with a pen and cut out the blanks for the flower.
You can immediately give your flowers an interesting texture. Place a thin bead of clear glue along the center of each petal from the inside out. Bend the workpiece and pinch with your fingers so that the vein is clear. Several similar veins can be made on one petal at once.
The texture of the leather petals can be given with a heated soldering iron, drawing lines with them on the back of the workpieces. Only first try it on an unnecessary piece of leather in order to experimentally establish the degree of heating.
Burn the edges of the petals over the fire. Light a candle and bring the leather blank face up to it. Refuse on all sides. Adjust the curl by moving the petals closer or further away from the fire. Be careful not to burn your skin.
Spread a small petal on the inside with transparent glue and roll into a roll. This will be the center of the bud. Wrap it with the next petal and glue the bottom of it. Thus, collect the entire flower, first using small blanks, and then large ones.
Willow branch made of leather scraps
This craft can take its rightful place in interior decoration if you put it in a suitable vase. The willow branch can be used as a gift or to make a picture.
From thin black or dark brown leather, make several blanks of pussy willow buds. Cut out small teardrop-shaped pieces. You will also need to make a long leather band.
Cut a piece from the wire that will be equal to the length of your branch. Wrap it with leather tape, periodically covering it with transparent glue so that the shell does not part.
Cut a thin strip of white or beige fur into small squares. Tighten them with threads so that you get a ball that looks like an open pussy willow bud. Trim the fur for a closer look. Melt the teardrop-shaped leather parts over the candle.
When melting small pieces, hold them with tweezers to avoid scalding your fingers.
Glue a fur ball to the wrapped wire. Wrap it in leather to make it look like a kidney. Style the entire branch in this way.
