Daffodils were loved by many ancient peoples. Their beauty was sung by the poets of the East; these flowers were grown in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Iran. Chinese people in the past decorated their homes with daffodil garlands on New Year's Eve. Prussia has had special festivities dedicated to daffodils for many years.
Instructions
Step 1
The narcissus flower was first described three hundred years before the new era. Over the past millennia, it has experienced various metamorphoses that have led to the emergence of unique specimens and varieties, many of which are completely different from the original flower. The modern classification of daffodils includes 12 groups. In Russia, the most popular are large-crowned, small-crowned, tubular, double and split-crowned daffodils.
Step 2
The narcissus flower consists of a perianth and a crown. Perianth is a collection of flower leaves that surround the pistils and stamens. The crown is called the corolla outgrowths in the pharynx of the inflorescence, which are often brightly colored and have a complex shape and considerable length.
Step 3
Small-crowned daffodils have a crown that does not exceed a third of the perianth in length. It is to this type of daffodils that the most famous flowers of the Amor variety in Russia belong. They are distinguished by white perianth petals and a yellowish-orange crown.
Step 4
Large-crowned daffodils have a crown that exceeds a third of the length of the perianth. Gardeners are very fond of this group of flowers, since large-crowned daffodils are usually distinguished by very large beautiful flowers that can easily tolerate heavy rains and winds. Florists have bred many of the most beautiful varieties of large-crowned daffodils. One of the most unusual varieties is considered to be Passionale. Flowers of this variety are distinguished by an unusual pink crown.
Step 5
Tubular daffodils have tubes instead of crowns. Such tubes are usually equal in length to the perianth petals. Long tubes look very unusual and graceful, especially on solid flowers. The most spectacular tubular daffodils include the snow-white variety Desdemona.
Step 6
The most unusual appearance is the split-crown and terry daffodils. In split-crown flowers, the crown is cut into segments, which gives them an exotic look. The split-crown color group is divided into two subgroups. The first includes daffodils, in which the perianth and crown are in the same plane, the second includes daffodils, whose crown segments lie in two planes.
Step 7
Terry daffodils are distinguished by an interesting "corrugated" shape of the perianth and crown. They come in the most unexpected colors and sizes. The variety Texas looks very impressive, which is distinguished by a massive yellow perianth and an orange-yellow crown of an unusual shape.
