Almost all children like to look at baby books. Such books are colorful, and most importantly, they are convenient for little pens. If they are made by one of the parents, there is no price for these crumbs at all. It is good to involve an older child in joint creativity: he can come up with stories for fairy tales, paint sheets, help glue or sew a baby book. Schoolchildren will surely enjoy making funny photo albums in this format from some school event, trip, family celebration, drawing characters or pasting photos.

Step 1
Come up with a plot for a future baby book. It can relate to any genre, the main thing is that the content is interesting and understandable to the child. For kids, make a book based on a famous fairy tale. For a child 4-5 years old - come up with a story in the genre of a fairy tale detective or even a thriller. The choice of both the main character and the supporting characters should take place according to the hobbies of the preschool child: these can be both well-known cartoon characters, and pets or even family friends. In some cases, the plot of a baby book is built around the child himself. This approach serves not only entertainment but also therapeutic goals. It's good if the background of the action will be overcoming some obstacles, defeating a dragon or other evil hero. This kind of "game" will help you learn goal-setting, rationality, the ability to rally friends around yourself, and when necessary - come to the rescue.
Step 2
Prepare your paper. In order for the little reader to like the book, it must be arranged in a key corresponding to the content. Sometimes some dark colors are appropriate, but bright, saturated colors should prevail in the design. It is they who are considered by child psychologists to be the most life-affirming. It is better if you decide to make a book out of cardboard - this way it will retain its attractive appearance longer. Some pages can be pasted over with cloth or made of leather, suede, leatherette and other materials. They help to put additional emphasis on any action of the heroes. Choose staples, tape, or thread to bond the sheets. If you decide to make a clamshell book, then the best material for connecting the pages is sticky paper for gluing windows. The main thing here is to take very sharp scissors so that there are no "rags" and "burrs" left on the strips of such paper. It is convenient to cut paper and cardboard with scissors with narrow, well-sharpened blades. Not everyone has an ideal eye, sometimes it is better to draw a future cutting line, and not rely on "maybe". It will take very little time, but the accuracy of the future book can significantly add.
Step 3
With a certain skill, create a layout for a future book using all kinds of inserts, sidebars and other 3-d designs. A child who opens such pages understands the plot better and feels more emotionally involved in it. These visualizations are quite difficult to execute, but definitely worth a try. The peak of skill - if paper levers will lead to the pictures, and the kid will be able to set the heroes of the book in motion. An important point: the levers should be made of the most dense cardboard, otherwise they will quickly become unusable and instead of the child's joy, the parents will receive a sea of tears.
Step 4
Make an internal layout, for which draw the margins, departing from all edges by 3-4 cm, and from the fold of the pages - 1.5-2 cm. Inside the sheets, mark the places of text and pictures using a well-sharpened simple pencil with a hard lead. Try to avoid soft pencils and strong pressure, otherwise, after the completion of the design of the baby book, dirt will remain. For the same reason, it is best not to use colored eraser. When choosing glue for illustrations, choose glue sticks that allow you to apply dotted drops. A good result can be obtained using silicone glue.
Step 5
Re-read the text that you are going to place on the pages again. Decide on a font. For some books, it is better to choose block letters; for others, write the text as legibly as possible in words; sometimes it makes sense to decorate books with text typed on a computer. In the latter case, avoid serif fonts, they are difficult for children to understand. Psychologists are sure that serifs seem to slow down children's eyes. If we talk about the color of the font, it is preferable to contrast with the color of the pages. For example, dark blue or burgundy looks good on white pages. But try to use black for baby books less often.
Step 6
Distribute the text mentally throughout the book, select the appropriate illustrations. If you are making a book with your child, entrust the selection of images to him. These can be some funny postcards or even photographs, but in the latter case, do not make offensive signatures to them, this will set an undesirable example for the baby. Older guys, choosing images and text for a self-made book, have the right to decide for themselves what will be there. Provide this opportunity, even if you do not really like the result. Sometimes pictures can be taken from special discs - cliparts. In other cases, simply download from the Internet.
Step 7
Start designing the cover of the baby book when all the inner sheets are ready. The title page should reflect the main idea of your story. Choose the image on the main page as positive, life-affirming, revealing the most important message, but not intrigue. It may seem that all these adult words do not fit with the essence of the baby book. In vain! A skillfully executed and kindly decorated book with an “eternal” plot will remain in children's memory for a long time - that is why it is necessary to approach its creation with all responsibility.
