Eonium is an ornamental shrub that is grown at home. The leaves of this plant can be black-purple, pink-green or green.
This plant can be propagated in two ways: cuttings and seeds.
It is better to propagate the plant by cuttings from April to July. In this case, the plant should not bloom during the rooting period.
- It is necessary to prepare the ground. Mix in equal proportions sand, turf and leafy soil, add 1/10 of coniferous humus and coal to the mixture.
- Choose a healthy stem with a rosette from the main plant, cut it off with a sharp knife. Sprinkle the cut with charcoal and dry for 2 days.
- Then plant the stalk in the prepared soil. Drizzle in moderation.
- For good rooting, maintain a temperature of 20-25 ° C. Roots appear in 2-3 weeks.
For seed reproduction, the end of summer will be the best period.
- Prepare the ground. Mix overflow, leaf humus and coal in equal amounts, place in seedling boxes.
- Spread the seeds over the surface, without sprinkling with soil.
- Drizzle with a spray bottle. The water should be at room temperature.
- Cover the boxes with glass and place in a sunny place.
- The optimum temperature for germination is 12-18 ° C.
- Germination period up to 10 days.
- After germination, the plants need to dive.
Care
The optimum temperature for the content for the winter period is 12-15 ° C, the rest of the time it grows well at a temperature of 20-30 ° C. In summer, the plant can be taken outdoors or planted in open ground.
Watering should be done in moderation; it is better to dry the soil between waterings. In summer, no more than once a week, in winter, once every 2-3 weeks.
You need to feed the plant from spring to autumn 1-2 times a month.
It is advisable to replant the plant every year in a larger pot. The soil can be used ready-made for cacti or you can make your own mixture, like when planting cuttings.
