The life of Vladimir Sapunov ended on May 6, 2018. He gained wide popularity in musical circles due to the fact that he was the administrator of the "Sunday" and "Time Machine" groups. The cause of death was cancer, with which Vladimir Borisovich has been struggling for the past few years.
VB Sapunov was born in 1953 in the Volgograd region in an intelligent family - his father taught physics. Vladimir began to take an interest in music in the late sixties. Then they, together with their brother, created the "Elves" ensemble. The group played at school dances and other similar events. All subsequent life and work of Vladimir was also associated with music.
Administrative activities
At the very beginning of the nineties, Sapunov, together with like-minded people, founded the Maximum radio station. For some time he was its director, but very soon (in 1993) he became the artistic director of the "Voskresenye" ensemble, one of the soloists of which was his brother, Andrei. A year later, Vladimir was invited to the post of director of the "Time Machine". Thus, his entire subsequent career was inextricably linked with these two groups. For some time he was one of the administrators of the Luzhniki stadium, where musical events were constantly held. Despite political differences with Makarevich, (Vladimir was a staunch supporter of the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation), he remained the artistic director of Mashina until the end of 2017.
Makarevich said that before Vladimir Sapunov "Time Machine" was extremely unlucky with managers. Some of them did not meet the requirements of their profession, and some were even seen stealing. With Vladimir, the members of the ensemble could not fear for the financial side of their work. He was a real professional, and made up a single whole with both "Voskresen" and "Time Machine".
Vladimir Borisovich was always distinguished by his cheerfulness, he had a very subtle sense of humor. He managed to retain all these qualities in himself even after the tragedy happened to him. Since 2007, as a result of an accident, he has been confined to a wheelchair. Around this time, he was diagnosed with cancer. This serious illness was the cause of his death.
Creation
In addition to his administrative activities, Vladimir Sapunov was engaged in creative work - he composed songs all his adult life. In 2014 he wrote songs for the album "Running In The USSR". Such famous groups and soloists as Evgeny Margulis, "Time Machine" and others became the performers on it. Several songs were performed by the author. And Sapunov Sr.was engaged in writing poetry. During his lifetime, several collections of poetry were published. He often posted his poems on the Internet. Vladimir has been composing poetry since 1969, and during this time he has written a lot of poetic works.
Little is known about the personal life of the empisario of two famous Russian groups. We can only say that he was married to Tatiana Sapunova. They had no children.
