An aspiring artist who is passionate about the science of drawing must practice a lot in drawing similar objects in order to master certain skills and techniques. You need to start with small figures and objects, and when you have already learned how to draw a ball, ellipse, brick and cone, practice advanced tasks. To make the process a little more fun, we invite you to relax and draw … skis.
Instructions
Step 1
Drawing skis is a very rewarding activity. Here you will practice applying perspective and vanishing points.
Start drawing skis with the construction of a base, which will serve you as our old friend brick or box, whichever you like best. Draw this volumetric object as if you were looking at it from an angle - from above and from the side at the same time. The height of the front side should match the height of the skis from the base to the top of the arched nose. And the side is the length of the ski. Find the vanishing point. Draw a vertical line that matches your eye level. Continue construction lines from the main sides of the brick to one point. You have determined the vanishing point, hold on to it.
Step 2
Move on to adjusting your brick to the height of the base of the ski. Based on the vanishing point, draw a construction line that will determine the thickness of the ski base. Now, using the top plane of the brick, determine the width of the base of your subject. Adjust the corners of your brick and in no case forget about perspective and lines.
Step 3
Starting from the resulting base, proceed to drawing the curved nose of the ski. To do this, draw a construction rectangle on the front side of the brick, in which you will occupy the top of your object. The width of the rectangle must be the same width as the width of the base. Extend these lines and cut them off with a horizontal guide corresponding to the height. Round off the edges in the elevation transition area. Draw a curved line at the bottom and a concave line at the top. Remove the protruding corner of the brick. Continue a relief line with a taper to the raised area of the ski.
Step 4
Sharpen the guide points of the ski using oblique lines. Make the top naturally dull. Use a vertical guide. You have practically drawn skis. All you have to do is adjust the details, round off the joints and erase the vanishing lines and mark the edges. This is a purely cosmetic job that you can do.
