Alpine skiing is gaining more and more popularity. It is stylish, modern, it ultimately helps to gain better health and a more perfect figure. But not everyone knows how to properly lubricate alpine skis, which lubricant to choose for which weather. So, more about everything.
Instructions
Step 1
Alpine skis must be hot lubricated before going out on the snow for the first time. This will help fill the micropores located on the sliding surface, which in turn will help extend the lifespan of the skis. Lubricate your skis regularly afterwards, as this will not only improve glide, but also increase their durability.
Step 2
Choose an ointment based on the following factors:
Air temperature. The lower it is, the less grease you apply to the skis (especially in a situation where the snow is freshly fallen).
Snow structure. The lower the temperature of the snow, the more granular its structure, which means that the ointment wears off more. In this case, apply the ointment hot using an iron. And for light and fluffy snow, apply the ointment with a brush.
Snow moisture. In wet snow, apply the ointment in several layers, and the wetter the snow, the more layers you apply.
Air humidity. If the air humidity is more than 75 percent, then choose the ointment at a higher temperature (approximately 3-4 degrees warmer).
And of course, do not forget about the composition of the chemicals that cover the tracks, this is also extremely important when choosing a lubricant.
Step 3
Make sure the skis are dry and at the same temperature as the environment before applying lubricant. Also, the ski surface should be smooth and without the slightest roughness.
Step 4
Clean the surface of the skis with a special degreasing compound, and then hot apply a layer of blue ointment, and after waiting a little, remove it with a scraper, leaving only a thin even layer. Then apply a special ointment hot or cold. For the hot method, use a brush or iron. With the cold method, after application, the ointment is rubbed along the sole with a rubbing cork (this method is best used in warm rooms).
Step 5
Also now there are liquid ointments, they have good adhesion and excellent sliding properties. Such ointments are squeezed out of the tube onto a clean surface, and then spread over the surface of the skis with a sponge. After a couple of minutes, you need to polish the skis with the same sponge.
