A poem in prose equally attracts the attention of poets and prose writers: it allows you to express the most subtle lyrical feelings and impressions without the help of rhymes and the dictates of a strict poetic canon. Any novice poet can try himself in this genre.
Instructions
Step 1
Read the classics. Many Russian and European authors have turned to the genre of poetry in prose. These are "Hymns of the Night" by Novalis, "Poems in Prose" by S. Baudelaire and, of course, "Poems in Prose" by I. S. Turgenev, familiar to everyone from school. By studying the best examples of the genre, you will be better prepared to create your own works.
Step 2
Express your personal experiences. Poems in prose exist at the junction of two kinds of literature, borrowing the prosaic form from the epic, and the inner content from the lyrics. Your piece should be a small sketch that can be devoted to any exciting topic: friendship, justice, the passage of time, love of honey cakes or hatred of neighbors. Describe your emotions, reflect and philosophize on paper.
Step 3
Use a variety of means of artistic expression. To prevent a prose poem from turning into an essay or essay, write artistically using tropes, epithets, comparisons and metonymy. The basis of the poem can be one detailed metaphor or allegory, the meaning of which is explained by the end of the work.
Step 4
Try writing in rhythmic prose. To achieve melodiousness and euphony, it is not necessary to use rhyme or follow poetic meter. The repetition of the same rhetorical constructions, the use of syntactic parallelism, in which sentences are built according to a similar scheme, will help to set the rhythm. Use sound writing, repeating the same vowel or consonant sounds, so that the poem sounds soft and melodic or, on the contrary, biting.
Step 5
Be concise. A prose poem should convey one complete thought, one emotion. Works of this genre rarely contain a clear plot: most often they are constructed as a reasoning or description. Don't make the poem too long. Like a parable or aphorism, a prose poem should be short and precise.
