Instructions

Step 1

The choice and purchase of lubrication accessories depends on how often you intend to ride. If your plans are only hiking on Sundays, then the necessary funds and time for preparing skis are noticeably reduced. Well, if you are going to seriously engage in cross-country skiing, then you will have to invest both money and time.

Step 2

There are three types of lubricants: ground, sliding and holding. The ground ointment is preliminarily applied to the skis so that the other types of grease are reliably held on the surface of the skis. Sliding wax improves the glide of skis on the snow, and with the help of a holding wax, they adhere to the snow when repulsed. The choice of ointment depends on the weather and air temperature. The warmer it is outside, the more holding ointment will be needed.

Step 3

Before starting the lubrication procedure, it is advisable to remove the remnants of the old with a special plastic scraper. Try to apply the ointment not in one layer, but in several, carefully rubbing each one. Apply the liquid ointment in a thin strip on both sides of the groove and smooth with a scraper.

Step 4

Lubrication options for skis depend on how you are going to travel. For the classic ski method, apply a gliding wax or paraffin wax to the ends of the skis. Then slowly smooth the paraffin wax with an iron heated to 100-150 degrees. Let the skis cool for about 15 minutes and remove excess grease with a plastic scraper. You need to move the scraper in the direction of the ski - from the toe to the end.

Step 5

Apply primer to the middle of the ski and smooth again with an iron. Cool the skis and rub the ointment with a stopper. Next, grease the skis again with a second layer and remove the excess with a scraper. Since this ointment gets very dirty, wrap your skis in plastic before walking. After riding, it is better to immediately remove the ointment with gasoline, a scraper or a dry rag.
