Unlike armchairs and chairs, the appearance of which is given enough attention, stools remain a necessary item, but at the same time, they are absolutely unsightly and inconspicuous. To fix this traditional state of affairs, sew multi-colored covers for stools.

Instructions

Step 1

Measure the parameters of the stool. You need to know the width and length of the seat and the length of the cover that extends from the seat down to the floor.

Step 2

Build a cover pattern on paper. Draw a square, the side of which is equal to the side of the stool seat, with an increase of 3 mm. Then attach a rectangle to each of the faces of the shape. Its width corresponds to the length of the "side" of the cape. You can make it short, within 7 cm, or arrange an unusual cape that goes down almost to the floor. It only depends on how such covers will fit into the overall interior of the room.

Step 3

Along the perimeter of the resulting figure, make allowances so that the fabric can be folded (about 2 cm).

Step 4

Another pattern must be drawn strictly according to the size of the seat, without any additions. Place it on a piece of foam rubber and circle it - a soft stool will be much more comfortable. For these purposes, you can use furniture foam rubber. Its thickness should be about 5 cm. Cut a piece of foam according to the pattern.

Step 5

Find the fabric for your cover. Evaluate its appearance - the color and pattern of the material should be in harmony with the rest of the furniture in the room, the color of the walls and floor. Also pay attention to the quality of the fabric - it should not become electrified, otherwise the stool will attract all dust particles and small debris. A fleecy fabric is also not suitable - if the stool is used as intended, the material will be worn and shiny.

Step 6

Pin the pattern to the wrong side of the fabric with needles or pins so it doesn't move. Trace the outlines with a crayon or pencil. Cut out the workpiece.

Step 7

Attach the side parts of the cape, which will go down, with the right side to each other and sew. Begin sewing these corners from the center to the edges and leave the material unstitched 2 cm along the edge.

Step 8

Fold all sides of the cape twice, 1 cm each. Fold the hem by hand with a needle-forward seam, then machine stitch.

Step 9

For ease of use, you can not sew the side parts, but attach ribbons to them in order to simply tie them. You can also make a drawstring around the perimeter of the cover and insert an elastic band into it.
