To make an ordinary, unattractive wooden stool soft and beautiful, you need to sew a cape-cover for it. To do this, you need small pieces of furniture fabric, cotton threads and hook No. 1.5.

If the stool seat is square, the sewing process for the cape will be as follows.
The first step is to create her pattern. To do this, you need to measure the dimensions of the stool seat and add 10cm (length and width) and 3cm (height) to them for a margin. For example, if the seat has sides with dimensions of 32 cm and a thickness of 2 cm, then the pattern of the cover will be a square with sides of 42 cm, in the corners of which there are cutouts 5 cm deep.

As soon as the pattern is ready, place the pieces of furniture fabric on it, which should be prepared in advance. Before use, pieces of pre-prepared fabric must be cut (cut) so that they can completely fill the pattern. In this case, the gaps between adjacent parts should not exceed 3-5mm, since it is this distance that is the width of the seam or double the width of the strapping. If the gap is larger, then when the parts are connected, the size of the cape will decrease, as a result of which it may not fit on the stool, and, therefore, the work was done in vain. If, on the contrary, the parts were loosely connected, this can lead to other consequences - the product will be short-lived.
Step 4
Crochet strapping can be used to trim the edges of the patches. To do this, each piece around the perimeter must be tied with one or two rows of single crochets with a thread, after which the parts must be sewn for both half-loops, braids, and the seams must be slightly steamed. In the event that you do not know how to knit, you can simply sew the seams on a typewriter, and then decorate them with silk ribbons, braid or sequin ribbons. Moreover, the threads and ribbons must be chosen in such a way that they contrast with the main fabric.
Step 5
The cutouts made at the corners of the cape should be carefully sewn up.
Step 6
In the event that the stool has a round or triangular shape, it will be more difficult to create a pattern for the cape. You will have to place the stool on the paper with the seat down and trace its outline. Having retreated 5-6 cm, draw another line on which you need to make darts. then you act in a similar way, namely, lay out the pieces of fabric close to the pattern and process the edges.
