Many mothers and grandmothers would like to introduce their grown up daughters and granddaughters to needlework. But this is not always possible. Children may not understand why they need to knit something, if everything you need can be bought in the store. Meanwhile, crocheting not only allows you to create a thing according to your own taste, but also develops a lot of useful qualities. A growing person develops taste, the ability to predict the results of his own activity. It is also important that fine motor skills of the hands develop.
It is necessary
- - plastic hook;
- - synthetic twine;
- - thick woolen or cotton threads.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, explain to your child why you need to knit. This question may even arise in a family where mother and grandmother are constantly engaged in manual labor. Explain that you can crochet a lot - a rug for a doll's corner, a washcloth for your favorite doll, a toy. It is very good to think of some kind of decorative panel for which the child could make separate elements.
Step 2
Choose a hook. It is best to take plastic and thick enough. The older, and even more so the younger, preschooler needs to immediately see the fruits of his labors, otherwise he will very quickly lose interest. But a hook that is too thick is also not very suitable, because the child still has weak hands. It is best to choose number 3 or 3, 5. Oddly enough, it is most convenient to use synthetic twine as a thread. It is thick and opens easily. At the same time, the child sees what the loop should be and can understand what he did wrong.
Step 3
Show your student how to hold the hook. There is no need to specifically focus on this. Many skilled needlewomen hold the instrument incorrectly at first. The right position of the fingers is usually obtained by itself when it becomes necessary to knit quickly enough. Periodically suggest where your fingers should be, but don't insist that your toddler master it immediately.
Step 4
Show how to make the first loop. This is the most crucial moment, further things will go much faster. Hold the end of the thread with your thumb and forefinger, make a loop on the hook, grab the thread from the ball and pull a new loop through the one that is already there. This can take more than one day. Take the child's hands in yours and perform this operation. Repeat several times if necessary. When knitting the rest of the loops, the chains of movements are much less, so the child usually immediately learns their sequence.
Step 5
Come up with an interesting task. For example, tie a loop to the loofah you are knitting. This requires a chain of a dozen or two air loops. A child who has already mastered the initial stage of knitting will be happy to help you. In the same way, you can knit laces for booties as a gift for your little brother or even a long chain that you will sew along the contour of the pattern on the apron or panel.
Step 6
When your child learns to confidently knit a chain, show him simple posts. Explain that if he wants to knit something rectangular, then at the beginning of the row you need to make a couple more air loops, otherwise the product will turn out to be uneven. Show how the hook is inserted into the column of the previous row, how the loop is pulled out of it and then knitted together with the one on the hook. You can invite your student to knit something small and rectangular. This could be, for example, a barbie rug. At this stage, show how to make double crochets and explain that there can be several crochets and you need to knit them in turn. In this case, one loop always remains on the hook.
Step 7
Round products can also be crocheted. Show how the chain closes in a circle. You can knit the product in a spiral or in a circle. In the second case, you need to make 1-2 air loops at the beginning of each row. When the child has mastered knitting in a circle, come up with more difficult tasks. You can, for example, make a didactic panel for a younger child. The young master will knit circles with holes, which will be fastened with buttons. You can tie a toy together. You knit the main details, and your assistant is the eyes, the inner parts of the ears, the nose, the ends of the paws.
