Crochet is an interesting type of needlework, both girls and boys can do it. A beginner needs to learn how to knit air loops, double crochet and single crochet - and you can start creating cozy, beautiful things.
Learning to crochet is not difficult at all. Even a child of six years old can get acquainted with this type of needlework. Not only girls can knit, but also boys. Sometimes crochet is taught in elementary school in labor lessons.
What you need to knit
First you need to choose a hook and thread. The yarn should be taken thicker, but not very loose. The thickness of the hook should match the yarn. For the first experiments, hook No. 3 or No. 5 is suitable. This means that its head will be equal to three or five millimeters. The most convenient for a beginner, perhaps, will be a plastic hook. Hold it in much the same way as a pencil or pen.
When choosing a hook, you need to pay attention to its shape. The very end of the hook - its head - should be slightly rounded. With a too sharp head, a child can prick his fingers when knitting. But too rounded will not work, it will be difficult to stick it into the product.
The hook consists of a shaft, the length of which is usually 12-16 cm, the head and the barb of the hook. When choosing a crochet hook, you need to make sure that its thickness is about twice the thickness of the selected yarn, and that the head and barb are not too sharp.
Knitting process
Knitting begins with a simple buttonhole held in your left hand. The thread is on the index finger behind the loop. A hook is placed in the loop, it catches the thread. This thread must be threaded through the loop to create a new loop. The hook is inserted again, the thread hooks on it and is threaded into the loop. Loop after loop - and a chain appears.
Immediately after the most important thing is mastered - a chain of air loops - you can start making the simplest product. By itself, such a chain can serve as a belt or lace. And if you attach pompons, tassels or beads to the edges, you get an ornament.
The next stage is the development of the main types of loops: single crochet, single crochet, two or three crochet stitches. And what are air loops is already known.
You can knit in a circle, or you can knit vertically. It all depends on what you are planning to tie.
If you dial 4 air loops, connect the last loop with the first one and knit 12 double crochets into the formed ring, you get a small circle. Then knit twice as many columns over these columns - and the circle will become larger. If you make a few more rows, you get a fairly simple, but quite nice rug.
Another simple thing that all beginners can do is a headband. In this case, as many air loops are recruited as necessary for a certain width of the rim. Next, knit in rows back and forth until you get a tape of the desired length. Then the ends must be sewn - and the warm, soft rim is ready.
If you alternate crochet stitches and air loops, then openwork knitting will come out. Many different patterns can be made from basic loops.
