True lovers of crayfish prefer only fresh products. You rarely find him in stores, so the best way out is to learn how to catch crayfish yourself. For this purpose, there is a special device - rakolovka.

How and from what to make crayfish

The simplest crayfish can be made from any plastic bottle that has a fairly wide neck. It is best to use a 5 liter container that sells drinking water. In the area of the neck, you need to make two holes, one opposite the other. A rope is attached to each of them so that it acts as a kind of handle. Bait is spread inside the bottle: raw meat or fish. Then the container is immersed in water and waiting for the crayfish to crawl into it.

A rakolovka from a plastic bottle can be called disposable; for regular fishing, you need to make a more solid device. For the construction of such a structure, you will need an aluminum (or steel) wire with a cross section of at least 4 mm and a mosquito net with a fine mesh. A hoop is made of wire, a mesh is pulled over it so that it sags. It can be secured to the ring with a thin wire or strong thread. A load is attached to the hanging part of the net so that the rakolovka takes the form of a net. A bait is placed on its bottom and lowered into the water.

For a more complex and durable structure, you will need a wire of the same diameter, a fishing net with a mesh of no more than 2 cm, a homemade foam float, a medium-sized fish hook, three pieces of rope 40-50 cm long. Two separate rings are mounted from the wire and tied them together with a rope. This frame is sheathed with a net so that it sags slightly and necessarily covers the bottom. A hook is attached to the center of the bottom, onto which the bait is placed. Any improvised handle is tied to the top ring. The rakolovka is ready.

Where to catch crayfish?

Crayfish love quiet backwaters and live at a depth of 0.5-5 m. Most of the daytime they are in their homes, and with the onset of darkness they begin the hunting period. Cancer is a clean creature, so it makes no sense to look for it in dirty water. Having installed a crustacean, it can be illuminated using a fire spread out near the water, or an ordinary lantern. The light will serve as an additional bait, and the crayfish will begin to crawl to the desired place. It only remains to take it out, empty it and re-immerse it in water as the crayfish is filled.
