A flirty hat is a must-have addition to a plain or colorful summer dress, sundress, trouser suit. It not only protects you from the sun's rays and overheating, but also serves as an excellent accessory, giving your look a light touch of romance. You can sew a summer hat that matches your outfits with your own hands.

It is necessary

  • - tracing paper or paper for patterns;
  • - scissors;
  • - needle with thread;
  • - lace ribbon 3 cm wide, 120 cm long;
  • - main fabric 55 cm;
  • - lining fabric 55 cm

Instructions

Step 1

Use a summer hat pattern with a wedge top to fit snugly around your head. Transfer the pattern to the tracing paper. Draw two concentric circles with a diameter of 18 and 37 cm on it. Cut out the center circle and cut the paper around the outer circumference. These are the brims of the hat. Make a wedge pattern - draw an equilateral triangle with a base of 8, 8 cm and a height of 17 cm. Round its sides slightly. Cut it out of paper - this is the wedge of the crown of your hat.

Step 2

Using patterns from the main and lining fabric, cut out 1 part of the fields and 6 parts of wedges. Take a thread with a needle and sew the wedges together first from the lining fabric. Try it on and make sure the top of the hat fits. Adjust the top for the volume of the head. Sweep the wedges out of the base fabric together. Sew all seams on both pieces with a sewing machine. Remove the basting. Iron the seams gently, smoothing them in both directions.

Step 3

Fold the top of the hat and the brim inward with the right side, baste them together. Do this for the pieces cut from the main fabric, then the lining. Sew round both parts on the sewing machine. Remove the basting.

Step 4

Turn the lining fabric inside out and insert into the base fabric. Baste them to each other in a circle, along the seam connecting the top of the hat to its brim. Stitch the cap fields in the form of concentric circles on a sewing machine, first along the seam, then backing off from the connecting seam by 2 cm. Make 5 such circles, not reaching the edge of 2.5 cm.

Step 5

Fold the edges of the base and lining hat 0.5 cm inward. Insert lace tape between them, baste it, and then sew the edges on the sewing machine. Remove the basting and iron the brim of your new hat. If you wish, you can attach an artificial flower to it or tie a long scarf made of thin chiffon around the crown.
