In order to draw an owl, you can use the technique of depicting animals with the help of auxiliary geometric shapes, and then supplement the sketch with details characteristic of nocturnal birds.
It is necessary
paper, pencil, eraser
Instructions
Step 1
Begin your drawing by constructing auxiliary geometric shapes. Draw an oval, close in shape to a circle, position it vertically. Draw a circle at the top, its lower part should overlap with the previously constructed figure, since the owls press their head tightly, and there is no need to select the neck. Select two small circles or ovals on the upper part, if the owl is not looking straight ahead, place them approximately in the middle horizontally, they should also have a common part.
Step 2
Draw the head. If you are drawing an owl looking to the side, flatten its head from the "face" side. In the center of the small circles, draw the eyes in the form of ellipses, sharpening their inner and outer corners. Remember that the organs of vision are planted in front, not on the sides of the head. With light strokes, emphasize the location of the feathers from the pupil to the boundaries of the circles. At the bottom point of their intersection, select a small beak, it is located strictly vertically. Its upper part completely hides the lower one. Unlike many other birds, such as pigeons or parrots, owl's nostrils and wax are hidden behind feathers.
Step 3
Select the rounded feathers that cover the lower part of the head and the entire neck of the owl, forming a kind of shirt front. Below, the owl's plumage has a different shape.
Step 4
Cover the entire body of the owl with dense feathers directed downward with rounded ends. Remember that the lighter ones often alternate with the dark ones. Highlight the flight feathers of the wings, in a calm state they fit snugly to the body, their ends are bent towards its surface.
Step 5
Mark a point approximately in the middle of the body, draw the bird's legs from it. Their upper part is completely hidden behind the plumage, so only the claws protrude. Three fingers pointing forward, one back. They all end in sharp, strongly curved claws.
Step 6
Draw the tail. The tail feathers should fit snugly against each other and bend down slightly. Note that the owl's tail is rather short.
