A scarf is a must-have accessory in a wardrobe, especially in the cooler season. Tassels, pompons or fringes add special uniqueness to this wardrobe detail. Making them yourself is not at all difficult.
It is necessary
- - Thick cardboard;
- - scissors;
- - yarn.
Instructions
Step 1
The simplest finishing of a scarf is fringe. Wrap the yarn around a piece of cardboard that is 2 cm wider than the fringe length. Cut the yarn on one side. Take two threads, fold them in half and crochet under the loop of the closed row of the scarf, then thread the ends of the threads into the loop formed. Tighten them, but not very tightly, so that the interception lies softly, nicely, without tightening the edges. Thus, make a fringe all over the edge of the scarf. Follow the same steps along the second edge. Optionally, you can decorate the fringe with beads or knot.
Step 2
To make a pom-pom, cut out two blanks of circles from thick cardboard. For each circle, remove the center, which should be about 1/3 of the diameter. The size of the pompom will be equal to the width of the side of the ring. Place the rings on top of each other. Wrap the resulting ring with thread as evenly as possible and wind the thread until the side located to the center is filled. Then push the tip of the scissors between the two rings of cardboard and carefully cut the yarn without moving it off the cardboard. Pass the thread between the rings and tie the threads on the cardboard into a very tight knot, leaving long ends from which to attach the pompom to the product. When the threads are tied, remove the cardboard by first making a cut from the edge to the center of the circle. Trim the pompom with scissors. Then sew the pompom tightly to the product or, without cutting off the fastening thread, make a pompom on a string.
Step 3
To make tassels around the edge of the scarf, cut a rectangle out of thick cardboard 2 cm longer than the tassel you need and 10 cm wide. On the narrow side of the rectangle, lay a cord (from the same thread) that will hold the tassel. Wrap the yarn around the long side of the cardboard. To make the brush more voluminous, do at least 25 turns of thread. Then tighten the string along the narrow side of the cardboard. At the end opposite the knot, cut the wound yarn. Cut a thread 30 cm long. Wrap the tassel tightly two or three times below the knot by 2.5 cm and tie tightly. Thread the ends of this thread into the needle and hide it inside the tassel. Shake the brush and cut off the uneven ends with scissors. A brush, just like a pompom, can be sewn tightly to the product, or, without cutting off the fastening thread, make a brush on a lace. The tassel can also be decorated with a large bead. To do this, pull the brush in the direction from bottom to top through a bead of the appropriate size.
