It is necessary

Cloth, preferably silk, scissors, ruler, pen, needle and thread

Instructions

Step 1

Take the fabric and, from the wrong side, place the points with a grid, approximately at a distance of 1.5-2 centimeters from each other. Use a ruler to keep it straight. It is best to simply line up the entire fabric in a cage with a step of 1, 5-2 cm, then draw diagonals along the cells.

Step 2

Now the points or crosshairs of the cells need to be numbered. You need to number at once in two rows in a checkerboard pattern. The odd-numbered dots will be on the first row, the even-numbered dots on the second. Number all subsequent rows in the same way. Do as shown in the photo.

Step 3

Then start the knitting process itself. Connect points 1 and 2 in the first and second row, securing with a few stitches. Next, connect points 3 and 4, 5 and 6 in the same way, and so on, while not pulling the fabric between the second and third points.

Step 4

Move on to the next rows. In a checkerboard pattern, connect the points relative to the connected points of the first row.

Step 5

Repeat the above steps as many times as necessary until you reach the desired pattern size. Each row is laid from left to right and secured at the end of the line. One and a half centimeter distance between dots is more suitable for thin fabrics such as silk or pile fabric. It will be much more convenient for you if the color of the right and wrong sides of the fabric does not match.

Step 6

If you are making puffs from thick fabric, you just need to expand the distance between the points to 2–2.5 cm. The threads for this task need to be matched to the tone of the fabric, besides they must be strong.

After finishing work, cut off the remaining fabric around the edges with scissors.
