A durable, comfortable and roomy shopping bag is an indispensable item in your home. It will not tear like a plastic bag at the most unexpected moment and will become a faithful companion in shopping trips for a long time. In addition, the bag made of fabric is environmentally friendly and beautiful. Sewing it will not be difficult. At the same time, you can choose the color and model that will suit your clothes.

It is necessary

  • - fabric for the bag;
  • - Velcro;
  • - non-woven (dublerin);
  • - threads, sewing machine.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a thick material for your bag. You can buy new fabrics to match your clothes. It looks beautiful when the bag is an ensemble with a jacket or coat. If you do not intend to spend money, review the old things that you can already say goodbye to. The main thing is that the material is dense enough and does not crumble much.

Step 2

Design and make a pattern. You can draw your own interesting model or make patterns based on an existing version of the bag. The simplest in execution is a rectangular bag with patch pockets. The pattern should have two pieces of the bag, a pocket and handles. Depending on the model, the bag can be with one-piece or separate handles.

Step 3

Cut out the details of the bag. On the fabric with chalk or pencil, circle all the prepared parts. Cut them out, taking into account the seam allowances. On the front of the bag, mark the location of the pocket with chalk. Cut strips from the cushioning material (non-woven, dublerin) to strengthen the handles. From the remnants of the fabric, cut a fastener piece that is at least 30 cm long and about 6 cm wide.

Step 4

Secure the handle parts with an interlining cloth. Iron on the strip of non-woven fabric. If you want to get a waterproof bag, then cut out two pieces of the cloth from polyethylene. Putting the film on the wrong side of the part and gently (adjusting the heat) iron the fabric on the front side. Once melted, the polyethylene will firmly adhere to the material. As a result, the inside of the bag will not be afraid of water. Fold the separate fastening strip three times and sew. Sew along the Velcro square to the ends.

Step 5

Press pocket seam allowances to wrong side. Sew the prepared pocket neatly. Fold the sheets with the right sides inward. Insert the Velcro strip between them so that it is on one end. Sew the parts on the sewing machine. Turn the bag inside out. If you cut the handles separately, then mark the place of their attachment on the fabric and stitch. For greater strength on the handles, make a cross bartack.
