A summer cloth bag is an indispensable accessory for women. Unlike autumn and winter, when waterproof leather bags of dark tones are more suitable, summer gives an opportunity to roam the imagination, the bag can be light and bright, and you can make it yourself. The easiest option is to sew a bag in the form of a bag with long handles.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose fabric for your future bag. The summer bag is distinguished by its bright or light color. You can use unnecessary jeans or scraps of different fabrics by tying them together. However, remember that a good product comes from a good fabric, so do not redo worn items or use an old, unattractive fabric. Almost any material will work for a summer bag, but avoid fabrics that are too thin.
Step 2
Cut out two 35x40 centimeters rectangles from the fabric, leaving 1 cm allowances on the two sides and along the bottom edge. Leave a 4cm margin along the top (35 cm) edge. The size of the bag may be different depending on your height, build, personal wishes. Sew together rectangles on the sides (40 cm each) and along the bottom edge.
Step 3
Make a 4 cm fold along the top edge of the bag.
Step 4
Open bag handles. Measure the length you need with a tailor's centimeter (about 60-70 cm). Cut 2 rectangles out of the fabric as follows. Rectangle length = 3 cm + handle length + 3 cm. Rectangle width = 1 cm + 3 cm + 3 cm + 1 cm.
Step 5
Fold each of the rectangles in half lengthwise with the wrong side facing you and sew along the length along a line 1 cm from the edge. Using a thick pencil or ruler, turn the resulting parts right out and iron with an iron.
Step 6
The handles can also be made from commercially available belts, for example, from a belt of the desired width.
Step 7
Sew on each handle from the wrong side of the bag. The distance between one end of the handle should be about 20 cm. When attaching the handles, make a few stitches, since these places will be the main load when carrying the bag.
Step 8
Cut out the lining in the same dimensions as the main parts of the bag (35x40 cm), but leave not 3 cm for the hem, but 1 cm along the top edge, as on all other sides. Sew the bag, and without turning it on the front side, put it in the main part of the bag.
Step 9
Fold in 1 cm of lining and stitch it to the main part (or sew on the hands with a blind stitch).
Step 10
The base of the bag is ready. A summer bag is often distinguished by the presence of decorative details. Use beads, rhinestones, buttons, ribbons, embroidery, appliques to decorate your bag, and your bag will be a unique product.
